does anybody know how to hack AVIC-F900BT to make the dvd player region free?

Posted Nov 10, 2008 · 01:00 UTC#2

I have bought it in US, what can I do, or

install to work in Europe, and is the hardware the same?

Can I update it just with Europe firmware?

iz this true!??

1. Pioneer currently does not offer European or US maps for US or European consumers respectively.

2. The US product will not work to satisfaction in Europe.:

TMC will not work

No RDS

Differnent FM channel spacing

Different AM channel spacing.

3. Firmware Does NOT include the map data.

And firmware is different between US and Europe.

Yes, all of that is true.

Since the unit is running on Windows platform, I think the best way is to find patch software that will remove the region code check. I use those patch on my home PC. I will try to search for it.

Thank you for that. I hope you will be able to find it. It will help all the buyers from Europe.

If anyone else knows something about this subject, feel free to write! :D:):lol::wink:

Also you can try to edit file \User\SystemData\uComInitComm\ModelVersionInfo.txt. This file contains following line:

MiconVer=08.09------яDvdVer=02.01.05.00яRegionCode=Sys5 Mecha5я

I don't test it yet, but may be changing RegionCode in this file take effect.

what is means Differnent FM channel spacing ??

in europe I can listen the radio fm!!??

Posted Nov 13, 2008 · 02:23 UTC#9

Don't you call it UHF in Europe?

Posted Nov 13, 2008 · 20:31 UTC#10

I don`t know exactelly, but I think that it is called the same.

Frequency difference between stations in FM is different between US and rest of the world, and also the highest/lowest frequency on FM is different as well. So normally a tuner designed for US will no receiveEuropean broadcasts and vice versa.

Sorry markostilo, I could not find anything for CE. Maybe you just work around it for now by decoding your dvd to mpeg files, then burn them back to code free dvd. If you need on that, just check videohelp.com

hello friend,

Just see this topic:

http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

It has the licences you need. Try and tell us the result ;)

This has absolutely nothing to do with the original question.

I doubt you can reflash DVD drive with RPC-free firmware without taking the thing apart and I have never heard of region-free players for WinCE, but there may be something out there...

MiconVer=08.09------ÑDvdVer=02.01.05.00ÑRegionCode=Sys5 Mecha5Ñ

Is the above line from US or EU model?

If someone with the EU unit could post exact same line we could perhaps compare them and try to change them.

Would that be possible? 8)

Hi Stan,

Just copied this from my UK F900BT, hope it helps.

MiconVer=08.09------ÿDvdVer=02.01.05.00ÿRegionCode=Sys2 Mecha2ÿ

Cheers.

Brian.

Will check it tomorrow and report back 8) .

Hey Stan,

I will be interested to know the outcome, I backed up my entire flash to my PC before doing any mods, if you need a copy let me know, I am sure there is a way to get the file files to you.

My mods are limited to using GTI Matts Mods and to create my own colour scheme to make the UK minor roads more visible.

Cheers.

Brian.

Great stuff Brian,

I'm going to get mine done tomorrow as well, so far I only loaded Irish and UK maps on it, and I'm working on my own theme 8).

I will copy the data.zip from my unit and play tiny bit with it.
