Bluetooth AND Audio Problems Possibly Related??

Hey guys. Just installed my F700BT yesterday and so far everything seems to be ok, a little buggy, but for the most part everything's cool. I have been installing for a local car stereo shop for about 4 years now, so I know that I have everything connected correctly. I will try to provide as much info. as possible to hopefully figure this thing out.

Obviously, I am running the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT as the head unit. I am using all pre-outs for sound. 3 pairs of RCA's running to a Clarion Crossover, then 3 more RCA's running to amps. My highs amp is an Alpine and my sub amp is a class D MTX. Running Component Infinity Reference Series in front, Infinity 3 Ways in the rear, and an Alpine 1242D for the sub.

My phone is the iPhone 3g. And I am connected with the Pioneer iPod video cable...also brand new cable.

I saw two other posts with information that may possibly be linked together.

http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18806 -- This post is saying there is no sound coming from anywhere in the system. Not the ANT/Radio wire problem, no sound from any of the sources, key beeps, nothing.

http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19126 -- This post is talking about the bluetooth acting weird. No sound coming from the bluetooth device.

May not be related, but here is what happened to me on my way to work this morning.

I have about a 40 minute drive to work. I got in the car and allowed the system sufficient time to boot up. Once the system was fully booted, I made a phone call, about 5 minutes after starting the car. My system doesn't recognize the contact names, so I dial through the contact lists. The phone call went through, I talked for about 10 minutes and everything was fine.

After the call, I changed from the FM source over to the iPod source and was listening to music. About 20 minutes of listening to music, I made another phone call to someone at work. The call went through fine, I was talking to him for about 3 minutes, and then the problem happened.

After the call, I noticed I could not "disconnect" the call. I pushed the end button, the screen reflected the button push by lighting up blue, but it just stayed on the screen. The whole system apparently froze. I couldn't change to the nav, couldn't change sources, the music from the iPod didn't start playing. The only thing I could do, was to continually hit the end button, and every time, it recognized that I was pushing it.

I turned the bluetooth on the phone off, and the end call screen disappeared and said bluetooth connection lost. After this I had total control of the system, however, now I had no audio ANYWHERE. It read the iPod, showed as playing, no audio. No nav directions, no key beeps, no radio. It changed the radio stations, just no sound.

Don't know if these two things are related but possibly? I am about to go on break and turn the car on and see if my sounds are back or not. I will keep you posted when I get back from break!

Are you _sure_ you dont have anything tied into the "Antenna Power" wire? There are two +12v outs from the unit; one is designed for radio amp/antenna telescope and by default will only turn on when the AM or FM is on.

Put the radio on FM, see if you get sound. If you don't, then you could have blown a fuse or the pica inside the unit. Get your voltmeter and check to see that the remote going to your crossover and amps is getting the +12v it needs on the remote side. While you're at it, make sure your +12v main power is getting voltage.

Hey. I made the mistake of using the wrong wire on the D3, I made sure it was the right wire this time. Like I said, I lost ALL audio including the radio and even system key beeps. There was no sound when it went out. Nice thought though.

I just went out to the car, and all my audio is back now. Maybe it was just a fluke and it won't happen again or maybe there is something to this.

We will keep investigating. If anyone else has had experiences with either of these two issues, post what happened so we can try to figure this thing out!

Going out on a limb here, but it may be a thermal fuse. Basically if some kind of output or current is exceedingly great as sensed by temperature, the power is cut. You can verify this by checking out your amps and seeing if their power LEDs are on whenever you have this problem.

You can fix this by first making sure you fuse the system remote control wire in the back of the unit at 1A and then putting a 12v SPST relay in your trunk, or whereever your amps are.

You'll need 4 spades to make 4 connections to the relay; all terminals are numbered and just put them where they go.

One terminal will be grounded out. Another terminal will be the 12v input you're getting from the system remote control wire. Another will be 12v from your main distribution block (fused at 5 or 6 amps) and the last will go to the remote control terminals of your amps. Instead of the amp remote control terminals drawing too much power from the system remote control, they get it from the distribution block and they can have all they want.

Again, just a guess, you'll have to see if the power LEDs are on next time the problem happens. If you don't have power LEDs on your amp, then get your voltmeter handy.

I have a Scion xA hatcback, and my Alpine amp has a big blue LED on the top when it's on. As soon as I lost my audio, the first thing I did was look in the rear view, and I saw the light on in the reflection of my rear window. I drove home from work and used the phone and listened to the iPod and radio and used the Navi...didn't have any issues. All of my calls released as they should have and the music never stopped. This is very strange. I'll keep an eye on it though.

thats weird

you are updated to 2.0 right? you updated the bluetooth firmware as well?

I just bought my stereo a couple days ago. The box has the yellow seal on the outside that says 2.0. I haven't done anything to the bluetooth. I figured since it had the most recent firmware installed, everything was up to date.

If my bluetooth is not up to date...do I really want to update it? I have read some posts with people complaining that they wanted to go back to earlier versions of the bluetooth firmware.

check the bluetooth version, should be 3.3 if its up to date. Might want to consider getting the radio boxed up to exchange for another since this one is giving you fits.

I will check the Bluetooth version in a little bit. The radio has only done this to me one time. Hasn't happened since...hopefully it was just a freak thing and it won't happen again.
