ok i did the hardware bypass on an old one without the update and its perfectly fine, now on the new units, the ones with the giant orange stickers that say 2.0 update there is a problem. after moving about either 500 feet or going about 10 mph there is a pop up that says improper brake hookup blah blah blah. how can i fix this.
PROBLEM WITH BYPASS only on 2.0
Did you do the bypass right? I would guess not, or a ground or pin has come loose

I just did the software bypass personally. Worked like a charm, the longest part was waiting for the files to copy onto the SD card. Also I tapped the green wire onto the ground wire of my radio harness, guarantees that it's grounded.

I have one of those units with the factory 2.0 firmware. I don't have any problem with the bypass. Check your ground to make sure it is a good ground.
sounds like you have a bad/loose ground. Make sure your parking prake wire has a secure connection to metal thats free of paint. Sometimes the ground wire from the cars harness is not a strong enough ground.

Mine did that also. There are 2 different postings of wiring bypass for the f series. Originally I used the hack to move the mute wire one position up. You need to move it between the two black wires 3 positions over to the left. See http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19689
That did it for me.
