i had the same problem everyone else is having with the grayed out icons on nav and system settings. i did the bypass, all the wires are where they are supposed to go, and still the same problem, until i figured out that IF YOU HAVE A VEHICAL WITH A SINGLE WIRE TO THE BRAKE do not connect the lite green wire to it. instead ground it out to the bracket the switch is connect to. and this little problem goes away. thought i would let everyone know. thanks

Sorry to burst your bubble, but everyone who has spent more than 2 minutes on this forum already knows to ground the wire rather than connect it to the handbrake at all.

WRONG!!! If you did not do the bypass as explained in this forum you will soon be locked out again. Search the site for proper bypass instructions.

no you guys are wrong. not all the cars out there are 2 wire systems for the e brake switch. learn your electrical before you post stupid replys

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:01 UTC#5

How is either of us wrong, exactly?

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:06 UTC#6

the single wire to the switch has batt. voltage. when you depress the e-brake the switch opens not grounds. all this does is turn on the light. i have been mechanic for 15 years and know my way around car electrical systems

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:13 UTC#7

That doesnt make either of us wrong. I stated that anyone on this forum knows to ground the wire, while VBLUE42 correctly stated that grounding the wire is not enough to permanently remove the graying out of functions.

Also, being a mechanic does nothing for your credibility.

And please at least use correct terminology: Its called a "parking brake". They do nothing for you in an emergency situation, and are only designed to hold a parked car.

You're making yourself look like a moron now. To bypass the deck to illegally do stuff in motion, the light green wire should never be run all the way to the parking brake switch, it should just be grounded, in addition to the second wire you have to move in the harness.

If you want to hook it up like pioneer intended (example: no video in motion or changing menu settings) THEN you run it to the parking brake of the vehicle

You said bypass. First post of the the thread, second sentence, fourth word

At least you can spell dumbass correctly

Grow up buddy. Im only 20 and a general asshole and Im still far more mature and knowledgeable than you present yourself to be.

Just for reference, a master tech patch only means you wear a fancy shirt and nothing more. I could put "President" on my shirt, but it doesnt make one one.

are all of you guys teachers? proper way to spell blah blah blah. proper way to talk blah blah blah. bite me

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:43 UTC#17

this is what i am talking about. i looked at the thread, and everyone jumped on this guy like he was an idiot. he asked a question. he didnt ask to be put down or called names. he wanted to know if it is going to work or not. thats what a forum is about, you need answers about something, you look on a web site that has information about it and people that have the answers reply. this isnt high school. no one needs to prove anything.

You have 2 choices, Fonjo...

A) continue to be an ass to everyone who tries to help you (like that member in the thread I provided) and when you're unit locks you out, figure it out for yourself

B) Stop acting younger than watkch01 and myself (I'm 20 as well) and listen to what we're telling you.

Grounding out the parking brake wire is only half the bypass and while it may work now, it will eventually stop working unless you complete it. The unit knows when you're moving whether the wire is grounded or not. It's a known fact, just listen to the members who actually know this unit.

If that's how you feel about that member than you're either thickheaded like him, or her or whatever the hell it really was, or you haven't read all the pages.

again i am not trying to be an ass. i thanked you for your answers on the questions i had and i treated you with respect. i am refering to the others that posted.

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:51 UTC#20

I understand that, and I'm trying to do what I do best here and that's help others. I'm telling you flat out that the unit will stop working. That's it, end of thread. If you read that entire thread you'd see the point I'm trying to make to you and that's do not question knowledgable members here, and more importantly, do not be a big mouth or insult them. I'm only trying to help you.

also i wasnt trying to complete the bypass so you can watch videos while driving. when i hooked it up like the book says i lost my nav. and system settings and phone pairing. they were grayed out. after i moved the wire i can now access these icons. and get into the settings

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:56 UTC#22

The bypass is not just for watching videos while driving it's also to keep all the functions accessible at any given time whether you're parked in your driveway or cruising down the highway.

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 05:59 UTC#23

notice how when we are talking no one is insulting each other. you gave me your advice on the system and i will use it. i never petended to know all or much about this unit, i just had some questions

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 06:06 UTC#24

Because you're not talking to me with disrespect. I treat others how I am treated by them. If you need to know how to finish the bypass It's stickied in the hacks and mods of the F series section.
