Hello.

Im going to install my F90bt soon! Just got a question about the gps location.

- Im thinking about putting the gps antenna on the rear deck but I have 20% tints. Would the tints interfere with the GPS antenna?

- Can i put the antenna on the front dash passenger corner? would this work? I do have a V1 radar, would this affect the gps antenna?

thanks guys?

I have mine on my dash, on the drivers side way in the corner, its not even really noticeable, and works fine.

Depending on what brand of tint you have, it CAN interfere with the signal. I would recommend putting it up front, away from it, but if you know what brand of tint you have you may be able to google it and find out if there is interference. (for example, formula One Pinnacle films will not interfere, but others will)

Mines on the forward dash front passenger side under windshield, works great.

I guess im going to put the gps antenna on the front dash corner. dont want to risk losing any signal.

you could always do a dry test once the unit gets there too. check for signal in the back where you want it before its fully installed

Mine is in the glovebox and gets very good signal.

In the wife's Santa Fe its up on the dashboard right corner with her Sirius gps. In our Altima both are on the ledge by the third tail light behind the right passenger seat. Both are working fine.

i have mine stuck right on the top of the head unit under the dashboard(there is no metal above the radio, just plastic vents) and it has great reception, and no one can see it and ask, "what the hell is that on your dash?"

I have mine hidden in the top right corner of my car behind my header panel and signal works fine.

I had my F90BT professionally installed and they said they mount the gps antenna inside of the dashboard and it works just fine.

They are correct I have had no reception issues and the antenna is hidden inside out of site.

I installed mine inside my dashboard on the supplied metal plate. Works fine.

I put mine under the plastic cowl between the windshield and the hood. Its invisible and gets great reception.

I have installed many antennas, both sat radio and GPS inside of the dashboard, generally on the metal plate...no complaints yet!

Thats what I did with mine in my Scion. I mounted it on the metal plate under the dash behind the gauge cluster.

I put mine right on top of the head unit under the heat vents inside the console. It works just fine.

Put mine right on top of the car on the rear.

Like others, mine's hidden in the dash, on top of the center HVAC ducts. Every now and then I check the reception, and I regularly get nine satellites showing up as green (i.e. usable signal). I'm pretty sure that's way more than the system needs for accurate navigation.

i put mine in the front of the dash as close as i could get it to the windshield on the drivers side.....and i havent had any problems yet at all

Tint will only affect the gps signal it it is metallic. I usually install them on the front dash or under a plastic panel in the front. On my personal vehicle I ran it up to the top of the windshiled and double sided taped it the the windshield in the middle(just above the rearview mirror). This way there is nothing on top of my dash and you doent even notice its there, looks like a factory item. Works great with perfect signal.

Hey guys, THANKS for all your replys!

Im trying to make the gps antenna discreet as possible. I was thinking about putting the antenna under the front windshield vents, but im scared I will lose reception.

Im not sure if my 20% rear windshield tints are metallic or not. Is there a way to find out if my tints are metallic or not? Im going to try to stop by the tint shop if there isn't a way to find out myself.

Thanks for your help guys.

how about switching your unit on with the antenna under the dash and see what happens

Is the antenna pad really needed? I didn't use the pad. Seems to get ok reception.

I have mine installed on the top of the unit. I get max signal.
