No more CC though.

Does Best Buy do the trick? I certainly won't be buying from them though.

Now I just have to make a final decision between:

Kenwood DNX8120

Kenwood DNX6140

Eclipse ANV726E

AVIC-F90BT

For price reasons I think I'll be going with Pioneer on this one, but the other three options did look interesting.

Interesting. Again, I'm not prepared to do an install like that myself, but good to see how it should go. I just watched your video once again and you said "I guess you have an after market part as well" in reference to the center dash piece. This isn't the case as the car is still 100% factory, cruising new with only about 300 miles on it.

I just called up some local place and they said about $150 for the install. They then said abotu $75 to integrate the Sirius. You're saying that something like that I can simply do by removing the dash myself in just a couple minutes and tossing it in there? It's really that easy?

And they also said $175 for the new pieces of dash?! I found something for $30 on ebay. Is this all I'd need?

Thanks.

$175 for the new dash piece is ridiculous. I am doing the same install this weekend in my '08 EX Sedan. I bought the OEM Dash Piece for the civic model w/ navigation and side brackets from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com for $40. The navigation trim ring from Scosche directly for $8. The Scosche HA10B Wiring Harness and HAAB Antenna Adapter from 'volaudio' on ebay for $15. I'm not sure if you have steering wheel controls or not but if you do you will need a steering wheel interface from PAC Audio Model PAC SWI-PS which I purchased on Amazon from 'CarAudioDeals' for ~$45.

I went with the OEM dash piece so that I would have an exact match color wise. I've read that some of the aftermarket kits were a little off. Also, there are two different colors for the center dash piece depending on what color interior you have.

Also, take a look at this thread

I'm not concerned about XM/Sirius or HD Radio so I can't help you out there...

Hope that helps...let me know if you have any other questions. I may not be able to respond super quickly because I don't have access to the internet for most of the day. But i do check the forum every night and will try to assist.

Hitman, maybe they were talking about the OEM dash kit. I got the scosche kit on ebay for around $30 and you will also need a wiring harness so you wont have to be splicing all sorts of cables. Yea the XM tuner is plug n play, open the dash plug it, hide it, enjoy it, that simple. And for Marky you are going to need to bypass the stock amp because the civic ex and SI come with a stock amplifier.

Posted May 06, 2009 · 22:23 UTC#32

Hitman yea thats the dash kit you need. $150 sounds like a great deal to me.

Posted May 07, 2009 · 00:36 UTC#33

The OEM Dash Kit is about $24 from the link I posted previous. The EX Sedan actually doesn't have a stock amplifier only the EX Coupe does so I think I'm ok. Don't ask me why it's this way but it is. I've been using the threads over at 8thcivic.com for info. You may want to browse there for info as well Hitman...

In a moment I'll post everything I have or plan on buying and you guys let me know if I'm missing anything.

Just a reminder, I'm driving a 2009 Honda Civic LX, Automatic Transmission w. Grey Interior. Factory stereo, stock everything.

All costs are before shipping and tax:

1. Honda EX -NAVI PANEL ASSY., CENTER Part No. 4907444 OWN ALREADY

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/aut ... RIVER+SIDE)

I have no idea if it will work, but the dealer threw it in. I mentioned to him I'd be getting an aftermarket unit and asked him for the 09' Honda Civic EX-Navi centerdash piece. So it's the exact color match and has the double din opening for where the stock navi would've gone. Will that work?

2. Scosche HA10B 2006-Up Honda Civic Radio Wiring Harness $1.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Scosche- ... 166wt_1593

3. Scosche HAAB 2005 - Up Honda Radio Antenna Adapter (what's this for?) $1.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/Scosche-HAAB-2005-U ... m153.l1262

4. Scosche HA1561ETB 2006 - Up Honda Civic DIN with Pocket or Double Din Installation Kit $31.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-2007-Honda-Civ ... m153.l1262

From the pictures I see it appears there are a couple dash parts I need besides the main center dash part. Anywhere I can get these without having to buy the whole kit? If not....

Do I need anything else for installation? I plan on finding a place that will just take all these pieces with the AVIC-F90BT and just do the install. Then I can do any mods afterwards.

So how do I look here?

Hey man If it says premium sound on your radio than you definatly have an amplifier (look under the driver seat from the back and you should see it, its covered with a metal shell.) In my SI sedan I have and we have the same sound system as the 4dr EX.

Hey tonton, how does that all look?

It actually doesn't say premium on my radio. Check out these threads from 8thcivic.com.

The EX Sedan does not have the premium sound system. The EX Coupe, SI Coupe, and SI Sedan are the only models that do.

So how do I look here?

Here are the parts you will want:

- Navi dash panel (gun metallic) Honda Part #: 77250-sna-a01za (since you have the grey interior) - It sounds like you already have this

- Navi bracket (pass. Side) Honda Part #: 77255-sna-a00

- Navi bracket (drivers side) Honda Part #: 77256-sna-a00

- Scosche Double Din Trim Ring - Email Brandon Boll ([email protected]) at Scosche to purchase this part. Here is the email I sent to him a couple of weeks ago "I have a 2008 Honda Civic and I am looking for a replacement double din trim ring for a HA1561ETB Dash Kit. Is there a way to order a replacement from you guys? I searched your website but I couldn't find an answer. Thanks in advance for your help." I just recieved this part a few days ago.

-Scosche HA10B Wiring Harness (which you mentioned)

- Scosche HAAB Antenna Adapter (which you mentioned)

You don't need the HA156ETB Installation Kit since you already have the OEM Dash Piece. The other parts you mention that are part of the kit which you might need are the two navi brackets and the double din trim ring. The navi brackets that come as part of the HA156ETB seem to be made of plastic whereas the ones I list above are the OEM brackets and are made of metal. I have these in hand and fit the F90BT. To get the double din trim ring email Brandon like I said above. The other parts pictured are the single din sleeve and the single din trim ring which you won't use as the F90bt is double din. Also the 'ETB' stand for Earth Taupe Brown which isn't the correct color for your interior, just FYI...

I have been researching this for awhile now and this should be all that you need. Like I said I will be installing this on Saturday and can let you know for sure but after recieving all of the parts and researching both this forum and 8thcivic.com I'm pretty confident nothing else is needed.

Posted May 08, 2009 · 13:17 UTC#39

I'll be ordering the parts soon.

Looking forward to seeing how this all goes for you.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this comes out as well. I picked up a 09 Civic LX last monday and am just waiting for my install kit before putting in my 900bt.

Hey guys...got the unit installed. Started yesterday, took a break to go wine tasting and finished this morning. Overall not too bad of an installation. There were a few hiccups, most of them my fault but at least one was an issue with the unit. I installed the gps antenna in the stock location which is to the right of the speedo.

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/i-c-e-el ... lease.html

I installed the microphone behind the slits in the center dash panel on the lower left side. I'm not exactly sure what this opening was originally for although I heard it was for a climate control sensor in a different vehicle. I guess it's a shared piece with another model car. Once I was able to get the phone to connect it seems to have good reception and people can here me well with it placed here so I am happy.

The problem I had with the bluetooth was that I couldn't get the unit to recognize any phone. I tried four different phones and nothing happened. So I got on this forum and searched for the solution and found this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=24057&p=164010#p164010

After installing the old bluetooth software (the software for the sony ericson and the samsung) I was able to connect my phone via bluetooth. I then updated back to the new software revision (Version: HW100-SW330 RC3) and my phone still connected. Problem solved. The other issues I had were with the tap slice connectors I was using were for a larger guage wire and so they weren't actually making contact with the wire. Once I redid all of the connections, it was all good.

Here's a pic. I have the F90bt, PAC SWI-PS steering wheel interface, ipod, and LG env...Thanks to everyone on the forum for your help. This is a great resource.

Very clean and nice install Mark.

Looking good, I installed my unit yesterday, the only issue was where to put the XM unit, I ended up putting it under the passenger seat until I find a better place. Too bad pioneer doesn't make the XM unit smaller.

I had the same problem with the XM unit.... I ended up putting it in the glove box (mine was empty) until i can find a better place. What about the XM antenna? where did you put it?

Posted May 19, 2009 · 01:07 UTC#46

I have my antenna sitting on my dash until I figure out how to route it. I put a unit in my wife's Honda fit on Sunday though and put it on the right front corner of the roof, I ran the wire down the window channel and thru the gap between the fender and body, then into the vehicle, I'll probably do the same for the civic as well.

If you think you might want Sirius or XM radio, go ahead and purchase the appropriate tuner and BUS interface if applicable. Get an iPod if you don't already have one and pick out a backup camera if you want that little luxury item. Also run the wires for a subwoofer and extra monitors if that's something you're into.

Luckily, I can pull my F90 out in under a minute, so I'm adding each item as money allows.

So far I have:

SIRIUS SC-C1 Universal Tuner

Sirius CD-SB10 Bus Interface

Boyo VTL420 Backup Camera

1st gen iPod Touch

Later on I'll maybe add a 10" sub.

Good luck. I really enjoy my F series.

Hey, is the Boyo VTL420 Backup Camera any good? Because I'm looking for a backup camera and they have a few so i was curious if it's worth it?

thanks
