Temporary enough that hacked EZRider 3 is currently undergoing testing prior to public release...

That sounds a very promising news.

I was just started to learn IDA Pro to disassemble the ezrider to seek for hackable code. Guess I should be just relax and keep waiting for a couple more weeks.

OK, for my next newbish question ....

Ezrider 3.0 being hacked is what I would need to be able to just add the updated .fbl map files that various places post to my AVIC (3.01firmware) witout Pioneer 'signing' those maps ???

You'll need an appropriate license file as well. I imagine that when the executable is released there will be some working licenses as well...

I guess the generic world license should still work, since I can use it to run the latest NavTeq map (2009Q1, released 2009/06/11) on generic IGO 8.3 with leetlauncher 3.0.

BTW, the NavTeq 09Q1 map is really great, although it's much smaller than TA's map, but it has more roads' info than TA's, at least new roads around my area only shows on NA's map but nor on TA Map

That one should work. Do NavTeq maps have roadsigns on them?

I have not got chance to fully test it, just tested it in my local residential area. But I do believe NavTeq map has roadsigns.

Boris , how 'tight' is the unhacked EZrider and the licensing ? Can I for example use (copy to the AVIC via testmode and overwrite existing) updated versions of .fbl files I am already licensed for or would they failed some hash check ?

Can I ask what EZRider provides me over my normal 3.0 700bt? Is it just a way to use different maps?

Maybe better yet, what exactly is EZRider?

They have been interchangeable so far, so I assume US/EU will be as well.

As long as you have a license that works with a map file, you can copy it to the AVIC...

The patched EZrider 3.01 is out.
