Shee-ot mudder-duckers, if you're going to put a fake face-plate, make it an 8-track.. shagariffic!!!
8-track is considered "antique", so thief may actually steal it! ![]()

haha nice isaac007 i like how you took the pics while driving and going like 75-80 HAHAHAHA ![]()
Just make sure he puts the preset buttons in, in the right order next time. I don't think I've ever seen a ford radio where they went 6 5 4 3 2 1.
i noticed that too.. im sure when he was gluing the buttons in from the backside123456 were in order..... lookin at it from the back! lol
Damn good idea guys. The Regal GS looks sick!!!!! Amazing work dude!. The other SUV tho, not so hot IMO. It just looks too obvious. I mean, for one, the ford HU you have is from like 1992 and does not look right. Also, the edge overhang is a dead giveaway. Good effort but I think a little more will go a loooong way. (.02$)
i will pay money if someone wants to put together a fake faceplate like they did for theirs and ship it to me ![]()
after reading all these stolen d3s in the security forum.. I'm kinda scared ![]()
well since my old stereo was stolen and I did not want a repeat with the D3. this thread gave me a great idea.
I had an old boost gauge that was busted so I dissected it and made it 2D and mounted it on some free black plexi

Now someone will break into your car because they think you have nitrous. Oh, and they will steal that Valentine 1 in a heart beat before messing with your stereo. ![]()

...I live in downtown New Orleans right now
You're doomed! ![]()
Oh, and they will steal that Valentine 1 in a heart beat before messing with your stereo.
Ironically they didn't touch the V1 when they stole my Eclipse CD8442 (what I had before the D3). Kinda funny to because the deck was busted. The V1 was worth waaaaaay more ![]()
Isaac007, I am not trying to be mean, but WOW, that looks like straight up a$$.
By the looks of the interior that appears to be a very nice vehicle. Im not a thief by any means, but if I was, and I seen something like that (even at night) I would wonder what you were trying to hide under it.
You might be defeating the purpose of the project by making it stand out that bad. You would be better off just using one of those window screens used to keep the interior from getting too hot, or putting an article of clothing or a clipboard over it.
Or you could try again, and this time dont start drinking til after your done.

Can't even find competent thieves nowadays. ![]()

What tool did you use to cut the black plexiglass smoothly? And what holds it in place over the avic?

Keep it simple ![]()
try too hard and it looks crappy...
so far
I've taken one of those little hook thingy's that came with it for routing wires. Stuck it about 1" above the radio
when i get out of the car, I just hang my hat from it. blocks the radio from view.
Instead of going through all that and making a special cover you can do what i did and get limo tint all around and no one can see inside your car:)
Sure, and as the tickets for illegal/excessive tint pile up over the coming months...
Must be nice to be somewhere that tint laws don't exist or aren't enforced. ![]()

haha too bad its only a $10 court fee...
you can always just roll down your windows if you see a cop. but i pass cops all the time with my windows up and they dont bother me
I had 35% on my Explorer and 35/15 on my Imp and I got busted a couple times. The wife got pissed when she got pegged a couple times as well, so when I had to have the dealer replace all my windows due to non-tint related scratches, I put 50% on the doors instead. Don't like it nearly as much, but haven't been as worried about putting the windows down as I used to. 70% is the limit on the doors in NYS...
would a flat piece of plastic or plexiglass be too obvious?
No!
Nice pics...I'll make sure I stay away from you on the highway though....
80MPH while taking pics of you console!
Well, besides getting super glue on the screen and putting numbers in reverse order, I think it turned out pretty well. If I was a thief, I definitely would not want to steal this POS stereo without CD or cassette. We'll see how well it works since I live in downtown New Orleans right now
Here's my phantom D3... Same concept.
