1. Download the World License. Ignore the EZrider file in this zip because it is the old version

4. Replace your old EZRIDER file with this new one in the APL2/IGO folder

5. Add the World License to your APL2/IGO/License folder. This will not overwrite your old license just add a new one.

6. Overwrite all your maps with the new maps of your choosing from the 3rd step into APL2/IGO/CONTENT. Make sure you put all files in the correct location. .fbl into the MAPS folder, .poi into the POI folder, .3dl into the BUILDING folder.

you are done.

2. Why do we need maps from Tele Atlas and Navteq? Pioneer uses Navteq, right ?

Is there a definitive answer as to which maps are better (NAVTEQ vs. TeleAtlas) or which has better/more POI's? Also, will the .3dc files also go in the BUILDING folder?

Yes this works for 3.01

These links are for US maps but if you find other maps they will work

the unit comes with Teleatlas

Hacked EZRIDER will work with either teleatlas or navtek

I assume .3dc files go in that folder yes. I put them in mine so if i am wrong someone correct me.

Can anyone confirm this method works for the EU units? I have V3 firmware already in my F900 but would like the latest maps.

Where would I find the POI and 3D building files for the UK? There not in that link?

For California:

Teleatlas has two poi files for a total of 45mb. Navteq has 1 for 8mb.

Teleatlas' map file is 57mb and Navteq is 47mb

Anyone have any comments on the difference between the two content wise? Also, do they look the same?

+1, I would like to know as well.

From what i have read from looking around, this is what i have figured out

Teleatlas has better coverage for speed limits, and possibly even more POIs. It also shows roads in 3d like overpasses where it shows a shadow and you can see which road is which

Navtec has better maps, which i can confirm at least for here. Several roads that are not on teleatlas seem to be on Navtec around town here. Navtec shows things like overpasses without the shadow and may not have as good speed limit coverage.

Its really a matter of opinion from what i gather.

I downloaded your 3D building files and i noticed that I had some files that were larger than the ones in your files and the ones from gpsunderground. Should i keep the larger files?

None of the files are mine. I just took all the information that was spread around and tried to put it on one easy to read place. I am sure you are better off with the new files instead of the bigger files but i cannot confirm that.

Hi, I have 2.0006 on my F500BT. Simply swapping my EZrider.exe with the one you provided (and the licenses aswell) won't let me use newer maps, right?

Are there any disadvantages when upgrading to 3.0? I use my unit does its job in europe, in case it matters.

Is it possible to mix and match map and POI files? I want to use TeleAtlas POI's but NAVTEQ maps, is this possible? Also, I noticed that NAVTEQ has more files such as the dem files. What do I do with those? Will the unit recognize those files and know what to do with them?

Did you read my earlier post? I mixed maps and POI and they work fine. Navteq seems to find address better than Teleatlas in my area. I also used the dem file that came with navteq, and didn't notice anything different.

I did notice that using navteq maps, the lane assist sign boards don't pop up.

OK stupid question time. 99% of my travel is done in just 2-3 U.S. states. Can I upgrade just these few states, without doing all of them? And if I ever decide for a road trip, will I have a problem once I cross a border for a non upgraded state?

As I stated twice in this thread, it works for me. I have been messing with the maps for quite sometime now, tried all sorts of scenarios with different versions and it does work. Try it, if it doesn't work for you , then put your other maps back.
