Hey all, i just recieved my f700bt

I want to install it into my 2000 gmc sierra pickup. Ive been looking all over the forums looking for wiring diagrams, vss wires etc as well as other advice or tips on installing into this pickup.

I currently have a kenwood single din deck two amps, a 10"sub and four polk mobile monitors.

Does anyone have experience with this truck or know where to find a link to an install?

Thanks

the 700 does not have VSS so you wont need that wire, every other wire you should need should be at the radio harness (that you should have since you already have a aftermarket radio) except reverse wire, but you wont need that until you get a back up camera.

the tricky part is that the radios in GM trucks were not double din until 03, the 02 and earlier trucks only had a din and a half radio, i have put a double din in a 01'ish silverado but it wasnt easy, i had to get a dash trim from a junk yard from a 03 or 04 and cut a bunch of the sub dash out to move stuff around a little, not fun.

Be sure to show us some pictures of your install when you get it done.

i will take some tomorrow, it isnt pretty but it fits. I ended up cutting out alot of the plastic on the dash as well as the entire metal brace. i also cut off the divider between the radio and the climate controls. It will look better once it is dressed up.

I was able to get my blackberry paired as well. I downloaded a divx to a flas drive and attempted to play on the f700bt but got ausio- no picture. I also got the warning to not watch video while driving. I ended up taking my back seat out to get to my sub amp and my 4 channel kicker amp. the original installer had the gains turned way down (3 out of 11) when he installed the single din kenwood deck. I turned them up to 10 of 11 and it sounds allright.

I still need to research and apply the ahrdware.software bypass- cant seem to find a good link

looking onto some o fthe 3.0 mods

still need to solder the wires and install teh backup camera.

need to fogure out how to turn off or turn down the beeps when pressing a button. it seems these are abnormally loud compared to the the audio volume.

any advice on the above will be welcomed!

thanks

the reason the beeps are so loud is because your gains are throught the roof, the gain adjustment is so that you can match the input level of the amp with the output level of the radio, with 2 volt preouts, 10 out of 11 sounds way too high and the loud level of the beeps is evidence of this. if gains are set too high, clipping will start to occure and the distortion is not so good for the speakers. also the beeps can not be adjusted in the menu's, the nav beeps can be shut off in the nav menu, to get quieter audio button beeps you need to mod the beeps files with by either removing the sound files or replacing them with blank sound to completely remove the beeps or replace the files with modified "quite" beep files from other users

makes perfect sense on the gains. I looked thru the kicker amp manual it said to turn the head unit volume to 75% of max (45) and increase gain until distortion is heard, then back it down a bit.

is there a better way to do this?

no, thats really the only way, except for some amps will have the input voltage listed on the scale for the gain instead of a 1-10 scale, for example, alpine v12 amps have a digital screen that you just set to the deck output (2v), you could probably go a tad higher on the deck, i usually can turn mine up to about 50-53 with out any distortion from the signal, and have my amps adjusted off of that.

also if you play it loud or have a sub, make sure you HPF's are on and set.

i believe they are on and set as i removed a kenwood single din deck, but I will check them. any tips on how to set the HPF?

I'm sorry but you're wrong, the beeps can be adjusted in the menu's. Press menu, settings (at the bottom of the screen), NAV settings, sounds settings (at the bottom of the screen) then adjust the master volume and this WILL also adjust the volume of the beeps.

i stand corrected, i am sorry for the miss information

turn the radio up to your normal high level, start with the HPF (i would use the one built into the amp as most of the time they are a little better than the one inside the radio) turned up (all the bass is taken out) then turn it down slowly until you start to hear distortion, once you hear a little distortion turn the HPF back up just a bit

between trying to run a company and a newborn, this project ahs taken a back seat. to recap so far i have the unit in my 2000 gmc, have a nice ignition hum and the amps and head unit are totally out of whack.

it looks pretty good but sounds like crap.

more later!
