Anyone know how to add asian fonts to this unit? I have songs and names in contacts of iPhone that are in Korean and Chinese. These show up as ??????? on the Pioneer unit. It would be nice to add asian fonts to show correctly. I've already contacted Pioneer support and they say foreign characters aren't supported.
adding asian fonts
I would like to know as well. Since most of these NAV unit uses WinCE, I don't think it's possible to add multilingual support. This means you will need to get multilingual WinCE image for the device.
Btw, Garmin (new version) has built-in multilingual support. I guess we will see multilingual support on all WinCE image like Vista and W7.
if anyone has figured this out, please help out! most of my music is in Chinese
Until someone figures out a way to hack the file system there will be no mods developed for this unit. And if someone does, it will be all over this site. I wouldn't hold your breath though.
i just ordered my Z110BT and I really need those fonts!!!
I was using a F700BT and adding those fonts was really easy since it's WinCE...
Please someone make this happen!!!

How did you add the asian fonts on F700BT?
I go into test mode and then copy past some asian font files into the system
It took me 5 mins to do it back then
a little bit more detail would be good. Which folder? \Windows\Fonts? etc...
Thanks,

You cant do this with the Z110BT.

Would it be possible to do it in testmode?
No, as stated in your numerous other posts about testmode, there are no hacks for the Z yet. You can't do anything via testmode or any other way

i really desperatly wants to get asian fonts in this unit!

Man... I wonder if anyone would one day come up with this....
Everyone should email them asking for it to be included in the next update. I have done so and they said they would forward it to some department in their company. So if there is enough interest, it could get done.
Sure!
Let's send them a email.
Can u post the email address plz?
Their email is: [email protected]
My email I sent:
Hi, I am interested in the z110bt or the x920bt. The only thing holding me back on purchasing is the lack of support for Asian fonts. Many of my songs are in Korean and Chinese, it would be a shame to only see boxes when choosing a song. I know many have hacked your old headunits which run on Windows to add fonts.
Please, can you advise on this or make your next update to include Chinese and Korean fonts?
Then I will forsure be purchasing one of your headunits.
Thanks,
Sheldon
Their reply:
Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.Sorry, the Z110 does not have support for Chinese or Korean fonts.
I do not have full details on the AVIC-X920BT to verify one way or the other.
We will forward your request to our product planners.
Thank You,

LOL... They probably don't like statements like this... At least most programmers wouldn't like it...
I would think that it would be a huge over taking to do.... But if it was as easy as just adding the fonts on the F series, then I couldn't see why it would be so hard to implement in a future update for the Z110BT....
Why don't you try to get an Asian unit? They usually have much more advanced units(at least Japan) and years before we see it in the states... For instance, I remember reading about this unit on this forum, about 3 years ago....
This thing looks sweet....
The 2004 model-year DVD Navigation system I had in my car when I was living in Japan, in my opinion, STILL beats the features offered on the Z110BT. Granted, the gap has closed considerably, and the graphics on the Z110BT are far superior, but the Nav I had (AVIC-DRZ80) just felt like a more well-thought out unit.
I'd love to grab a JP Nav system next time I'm in Japan and install it in my car stateside, but how the heck could you get US maps onto the unit? And would the unit interface with Sirius/XM? And how would you account for the difference in FM frequencies? And could you rig the unit to play Region 1 DVDs? And I speak Japanese, but would anyone else in the car be able to use the freakin' thing with all the buttons written in squiggly gibberish? And so on and so forth.
That JP Nav in the link in the post above this one retails for close to $3K with current exchange rates. If I was spending that much money on a Nav system, I'd wanna make damn well sure it'd work decently in my car here in the states. My two cents/yen...
If Z110BT can support Asian font or char, I would sell my Kenwood DNX 9140 at hearbeat..
So far no asian character support on the DNX 9140
Update or hack, I want it...
It's already 2010 and company doesn't support asian character on the their system??

Everyone held their breath too long and they died. The answer is still the same as it was 2 1/2 years ago.
