I just got a long drawn out email from Best Buy that my MSN Direct One-Time Prepaid Navigation Service Subscription Card may not have been activated properly. If it doesn't work properly I can call some number or return it to Best Buy for a full refund.

So these cards may not work anymore. Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, and I will post what I find.

Earlier today while trying to activate my card on the web site it would not work. You apparently need to be using IE on a PC to get acces to their site. Anyway, I call MSN to activate. They asked me if I was activateing a lifetime or yearly subcription. I replied that it was a lifetime subscription and he replied, "ok". I wasn't able to activate over the phone because they are unable to do so over the phone but the rep I spoke to never indicated that the lifetime subscription was a problem. Later I used Windows and IE to activate and it went through without a problem.

Ok just got my comfrmation email from MSN that shows that I now have a lifetime subscription. So this should ease any concerns about these cards. The only problem I had was trying to activate the service with the Safari browser on the Mac. I pulled up Windows and IE and was able to activate without problem. This is all thanks again to forum member 6605stang for finding the last remianing cards and offering to provide us an opperatunity to take advantage of this service.

VERY true! I take nothing away from that. I wouldn't have known to go get my card so quickly had I not heard the murmurs of the $99 deal going away. I'm a newb here. I just wanted extend a line of favor to a few folks that may still want the cards considering I found a few unexpectedly. I'm actually going to go over there tomorrow and see if they have any more. They have about 15-20 left (just didn't want do drop $2500 on cards! But judging by how many people are asking for these (apparently these threads are searchable by google). I might go try and buy up the last of them at that store tomorrow. Unless anyone in the Denver area wants first crack.

Thank you both garrettoomey and vblue42 for all their help, just wanted to return a favor the AVIC411 crowd.

Well my prepaid lifetime subscription card did not work.

The front of the card states "The card has no value until activated at register". This is where I think my problem lies, I ordered it online and do not think it was registered correctly. I called the best buy 800 number as instructed in my email, gave the Indian woman the 24 digit activation code, and she said a manager will call me in a few days. Days ... ugh.

6605stang, you bought your cards at your local best buy, correct? Do you remember them 'activating' the cards at the register?

I ordered mine online from Best Buy, and it arrived tonight. I had no issues in activating it online. My account now shows:

Yes they did. In fact, I was disappointed because when they were scanning the 7 that I bought, the register crapped out after the 5th one. When they went over to another register the 5 they had scanned would not recognize. Likely because they had been pseudo-activated, but the transaction did not complete. So I was like, "Great, there are 5 more I won't be able to buy if I come back for more." Went and got 5 more off the rack and got em.

They have about 15 left now. Only one's left in Denver. If these last 4 I have move in the next day or so, I'll go buy more, but that first $900 slug was big enough.

Could someone post the SKU or scan of the purchase receipt? Gonna go spelunking at the midwest BBs.

The SKU is 799366610441

The Best Buy Item number is 8967647

Why not just get it from 6605stang? He has 3 left, and you won't have to go searching...

Make that 2 and thanks Garret. ;) And I'm pretty sure everyone I've gotten one for so far, everything has worked slick. I just email you the code via a scan of the back of the card. I keep it until you tell me it works, then I destroy the card. I have 15 more on hold at the only Best Buy in Denver that has any left, but I'm not going to go drop another $2k until I know these are gone.

1 left.

Sold that one but the wife picked up 3 more over lunch (I asked that she picked up 10 but she didn't have that much cash on her).

So I now have 3 more.

I have access to 50 cards. Anyone who's interested, just give me a holler via PM.

If you need some reassurance, I've got good heat :

Are you selling at cost or for profit. If for cost, I let you take the reigns and I won't buy any more. If for profit, I'll keep buying them and keep providing at cost to AVIC411 active members.

Posted Oct 22, 2009 · 23:00 UTC#48

OK folks, until I hear whether "whobedaplaya" is selling these at cost or for profit, I'm going to suspend buying anymore. If he's selling for profit, I'll keeping buying and offering at cost to AVIC411 active members. If he's selling at cost too, he can take it from here.

So 'Playa, please let me know ASAP so I know if I need to go get more or not.

I went to the local best buy with my un-activated card that I bought online. They could not get the card to activate, buy they refunded my money and I then bought another card. The card I bought from the best buy store activated fine, and I have registered its code with no problems.

Just wanted to clear up my problem so that no one else worries about if these lifetime cards still work or not.

Posted Oct 23, 2009 · 01:46 UTC#50

Whoa, hold your horses fellas. Will be picking one up to see how the whole activation deal works out first. Don't want to mail anyone unactivated cards
