I have a pioneer avic d3 and I was wondering what Ipod I need to get that will plug into the back of my avic d3 so I can control it using the ipod button on the cd player Thanks

Pretty sure most iPods will connect using the iPod-specific cable.

5th gen (30 and 60 gig Ipod videos) and newer, however the newest ipods will not charge with the D3's cable (CD-I200)

i have the 2G iphone and it charges it while i listen and works no problem. like BuffaloSS im sure the ipod cable sold for the unit will work.

Try the Scosche PassPort

Posted Dec 07, 2009 · 00:54 UTC#7

Where would I find that at?

Posted Dec 07, 2009 · 15:55 UTC#8

the scoschee passport will not work for pioneer for some reason, one of my installers has a D3 in his tahoe, and bought one hoping it would work, it does however work for alpines(not that helps anybody here) just not pioneers, weird

Posted Dec 10, 2009 · 00:01 UTC#9

Does anyone know if their is anything else,since the passport won't work

Posted Dec 19, 2009 · 22:29 UTC#10

Am I the only one having this problem?

Posted Dec 21, 2009 · 21:10 UTC#11

no every one else is having the same problem,

the guy at pioneer just told my other installer that he needs to order this part, he hasn't got it yet, so we dont know if it will actually work

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... /CD-IU205V

it has a USB plug that you need to plug in to something for power

Posted Dec 22, 2009 · 00:52 UTC#12

interesting, a pioneer employee told u that? where are we supposed to plug in the usb though..

Posted Dec 22, 2009 · 13:05 UTC#13

he recommended using a usb cig socket (Ipod car charger), if it works he will just hard wire the cig socket behind the radio

but then again, it wouldn't be the first time somebody from Pioneer was wrong about something! LOL

There is no way the CD-I200 will charge the Ipod touch or the Iphone. Now the question is, will the CD-IU205 work on the D3?

the best thing to do would probably be to call pioneer 10 different times on different days getting different people, and ask them if they have a solution or if that would work, then compile all the data into a bar graph of some sorts, and then make the decision based off of that since you never seem to get the same answer twice

LOL, man I could not have come up with a better form of sarcasm myself. So sad but true about those clowns.

yep, they didn't change the charging issue til the later Iphones, the originals are fine.

Ok then. Show me. With pictures so we all can see what you've done. Becasuse I have visual aids here that show the Iphone is not charged by the CD-I200 that goes with the D3. It will play the the Iphone, but wants to put the phone in Airplane mode. So drftnsubies, what are you doing different?

dont know what you are doing wrong but im pretty sure it charged my 2G iphone, but not my 3G

Posted Dec 27, 2009 · 08:56 UTC#21

I can't speak for 1st gen Iphones, but Iphone 3g it will not charge. There's nothing to do wrong. Just plug the cable into the Ipod.

Posted Dec 27, 2009 · 09:42 UTC#22

uh, not one person above has stated that the 3G iphones charge. all i see people saying are that the 2g and the originals work fine, which are the same phone. 2G is not always 2nd gen, confusing i know.

2G=1st gen Iphone

3G=2nd gen Iphone

3GS=3rd gen Iphone

Yes that is what i said. But it depends on who you are talking to. Apple products are commonly referred to as 1G 2G 3G meaning 1st, 2nd 3rd generation starting with the iPod. Many people confuse this with the 2G and 3G describing speed for the iPhone, which is what Pogigreg is doing.

So what percentage of people out there are still using the 2g Iphone? Probably not many. I would think that most like me are upgrade crazy, and went to a 3g or 3gs as soon as they came out. If that is the case, they would most likely have to upgrade from the D3 to the F series or the X or Z series.
