i want to get this but its 100 for the receiver...

Posted Jan 15, 2010 · 03:32 UTC#4

Sounds like a great thing!! I will do it once I get the MSN tuner and the 110 installed. Just about ready...

Do I need to have a specific GPS antenna to get this feature?

Posted Jan 17, 2010 · 21:05 UTC#6

Well, you have to have a unit that offers MSN direct service. What unit do you have?

Posted Jan 18, 2010 · 07:17 UTC#7

I have the Z110BT. I see the information in the manual and it makes reference to the key code, but the MSN icon on my radio is greyed out.

The Z requires the ND-MDT10 MSN tuner to use and activate the service. Once you connect the tuner the MSN icon will become available.

how come the Z110BT is not on the list?

Posted Jan 21, 2010 · 02:36 UTC#10

Because the Z110BT has no MSN tuner. The ND-MDT10 is the tuner.

So does this mean MSN Direct is back in business? The last I heard they were giving back refunds and stuff. Is the $29.95 a special promotion until Jan 1 2012 or is MSN Direct going to stop completely after Jan 2012? Let me know, Im looking to get MSN Direct soon if MSN is in for the long run....

Posted Feb 03, 2010 · 05:47 UTC#12

MSN will still end after 01-2012. They are still refunding for lifetime subscriptions if you activate one now.

Posted Feb 03, 2010 · 19:33 UTC#13

So basically all I have to do is buy the tuner (since I have the Z110BT) and pay a ONE TIME payment of $29.95 for membership until JAN of 2012? If so, thats a good pretty good deal. Im paying like $100 for a 2 year membership pretty much.

Posted Feb 03, 2010 · 19:39 UTC#14

Read it again. You will pay 30 dollars a year.

Posted Feb 03, 2010 · 22:50 UTC#15

Well maybe I should read it again. Yes, apparently you do get the service till the end of life for 30 bucks.

So now the big question is why aren't the tuners getting marked down as well? This makes no sense to me. What good is lowering the price of the subscription when you still have to shell out around $80-$100 bucks to throw it away in less then 2 years time? Am I missing something. I would think the deal for the Avic Z110BT should be something like this: Get the tuner and subscription for $100 till MSN ends in 2012. Do people agree?

+1. This is exactly what I'm waiting for. Until then there's no way I'm buying a $100 tuner to throw it away.

There is no way in hell im paying full pop for something that its future is over already. Screw msn, we need internet on the Z.

Something like apples apps store

Is there anything new on this - I have my tuner arriving tomorrow... Looking for the hows on activating...

Posted May 06, 2010 · 22:28 UTC#20

Go to the MSN Direct site for activation.

What's the buzz on getting an alternative to replace this module ? or use this module with another service other than MSN ? has anyone heard anything ? Is anybody working on this ?

Posted Sep 07, 2010 · 05:13 UTC#22

There is no buzz.

Posted Sep 11, 2010 · 14:25 UTC#23

I'm looking to purchase a HU in the next month or so. Lack of traffic is a deal breaker. Has Pioneer given any indication if they'll be offering an alternative traffic provider to current units? Unless I'm missing something buying a current Pioneer HU, and counting on traffic in 2012 is a gamble. Don't know if it will be available or for how much. I don't know if I missed some press release that had the info.

I'm looking at the Kenwood with lifetime Navteq or the new JVC with lifetime HD traffic.

Posted Sep 11, 2010 · 14:47 UTC#24

They have been completly silent and likey will stay that way until a new service is available which may not even apply to these units at all.

Posted Sep 13, 2010 · 13:16 UTC#25

That's what I was afraid of. I'm looking at Kenwood or the new JVC. Do you have an opinion regarding either line?
