Thats what caused the problem in my car. Relay harness are only recommended for 55 watt HID ballast and are not necessary for 35 watt ballast.
Z110BT + Audi + Connect2 Wiring Harness + HIDs = no audio!
you can take the main power leads coming into the ballast , clip it from the harness run them thru relay to battery and use the clipped lead to trigger the relay. jim
Thats what I had, it caused the problem. Going back to using the car harnesses without the relayed harness fixed the problem.

Still having the issue. I have just been dealing with it and figured I'd check back to see if anything has changed. To reflect, I have the problem with and without the relay harness. My work around has been to turn my headlights on manually every time I get in so I don't have to deal with it. Normally during the day it wouldn't be an issue but when I put it in reverse it cycles the lights for a second and causes the issue, so i have just been turning on my lights all the time.
Sorry to bump such an old thread but my google-fu has brought me here.
Last night I replaced all the door speakers along with wiring up a 5 channel amp with sub into my tundra.
I have had DDM HID kits in the headlights and fog lights with no problem for quite some time.
during our testing of the install everthing was fine.
When i go to leave i decide to check my fog lights and boom system goes dead. Amp is turned off and my z120 while it appears to be "on" is not pushing out any audio almost like it went into a protect of sorts.
Shutting the truck completely off and back on will reset everything and no problem and once again as soon as i hit the fog light button it shuts down.
My headlight HID's do not cause any trouble. The fog lights are do have a relayed harness because they were installed aftermarket even though they are "oem". I am trying to figure out how I can bypass the harness to try what fixed VBLUE42 issue
Take it back to the installer and see if they can wire the fogs to the vehicle wiring instead of a relay.
Ok... Got a strange one here. I've got an Audi A3 that came with factory Halogen headlights. I installed my Z110BT with the Connect2 wiring harness kit (smaller than the PAC one, simpler) and it was working great. I just recently installed aftermarket HIDs in the car, and now I've got a very strange issue...
If the Z110BT is started up already, and I turn on my headlights.. about 70% of the time the audio will cut out! Now i'm not saying ALL audio cuts out -- but rather, just the audio source dies. iPod, HD Radio, CD ... doesn't matter. I can switch sources and hear all the menu/interface beeps through the speakers without any issues. Usually after changing audio sources 2-3 times, the audio will come back -- but not all the way. Sometimes it will just be the back speakers, other times its all of them -- except for the subwoofer... The only real fix is to turn the car off and turn it back on.
Has anyone seen any behavior like this?
(also, i have the factory BOSE system, so the Z110BT is actually routing all its audio through the line-outs directly into the factory amp)
I'd even be happy if I could just reset the Z110BT while I was driving when this happens, but I can't seem to find a way to do that...
how are your hids wired? are they drawing all their power thru the factory harness? I would have run a relay inline with the battery as the power supply.
That has caused the problem for many of us.
