Hey guys just installed the unit into the car and everything seems to be working great except for voice help. Basically it does not talk... it lowers the volume and i have all the other volume settings turned up but there is no text to speech. Even the button beep noise does not make any sound. anyone know of a setting i am missing or what?

Check your settings. If I remember correctly you can turn the voice prompts off when using VR.

thanks for quick reply yeah i've messed with every setting and still getting no beep or voice even though those are all the way up. No voice guidance nothing which is strange because i've got sound from ipod and everything else

Well keep looking, its in there.

Posted May 15, 2010 · 00:17 UTC#5

i've even restored back to factory settings and nothing

Posted May 15, 2010 · 00:21 UTC#6

Make sure you have the front outputs connected. VR only works with the front RCA and speaker outputs.

Posted May 15, 2010 · 00:23 UTC#7

AV settings as mute: guide/tel/vr, Tel/vr, and off (i've gone through all of these for no change)

Guidance/tel Sp: L+R SP, left sp, right sp (all to no avail)

System settings has volume menu (beep is on and tried off still nothing, guidance all the way on and off and still nothing)

Hmm speaker out... what wire is that and I don't have anything using RCA

Posted May 15, 2010 · 01:23 UTC#9

also bluetooth calls i've now tested an I don't get any sound from speakers as well :(

Posted May 15, 2010 · 01:26 UTC#10

Sounds like you have something connected wrong. Check your outputs. Play some music and fade from front to rear. Like I said earlier, VR only works on the front. That goes for Bluetooth also...

All the sound is working fine from all the speakers. But like i said i am not using any of the RCA wires which have that output sound like you said. I don't have a clue how to use any of those since all the harnesses i bought were to keep the stock amp working. I don't remember reading anywhere that those wires were necessary and I don't remember there being a normal output wire from the unit and I know there is an input one from the harness...

I got a dodge magnum rt 2005, harnesses are pac c2r-chy4 and pac swi-ps and all the wires look to be connected correctly

Did you install the unit?

Posted May 15, 2010 · 02:13 UTC#13

yes sir everything is installed and working correctly except for no voice guidance or sound from bluetooth

Would the bypass effect this at all? I know i have done it correctly because i've been able to change my route while driving I don't get any warning.

From the manual I see the only output sound does come from RCA but i've never heard of people having to plug these into the amp at all... considering i am not using rear entertainment or anything

Lets try this again.

Did you install the unit?
Posted May 15, 2010 · 02:28 UTC#15

YES sir I installed the unit myself if that is what your asking

Posted May 15, 2010 · 02:58 UTC#16

The bypass would not have anything to do with it. It fades front to rear ok?

Posted May 15, 2010 · 04:51 UTC#17

You either have a defective unit or an install issue. What are the speakers wires from the unit directly connected to?

No actually there is sound from all 6 speakers but when i put the fade thing all the way to the front there is no sound if that makes a difference.

I will try to take pics tomorrow but the wires from the unit, the ones that are like grey and grey white etc are connected to the harnesss wires that correspond to them, grey and grey white etc.

I do not remember hooking up an output speaker wire and I looked up my harness info and there doesn't seem to be any wires that correspond to that.

That's what I have been saying. Something is wired wrong. I bet it's your wiring harness. That has to be your problem...

Posted May 15, 2010 · 05:23 UTC#20

And where does the harness go to? A factory amp or straight to the speakers?

And where does the harness go to? A factory amp or straight to the speakers?

Harnesses connect to the car power and speaker wire main plug in the dash. I didn't have to run any wires, all i had to do was connect these adapters and then solder the wires and for the most part they were color coded to match the pioneer unit's harness.

That's what I have been saying. Something is wired wrong. I bet it's your wiring harness. That has to be your problem...

I don't understand i've talked to others with these cars and they don't seem to have a problem. I will certainly take it out tomorrow for another look and double check my connections but i am almost positive I connected everything correctly and properly. What would the fade a specific issue I could pinpoint? Basically my car setup is 2 tweeters on dash, two in the front doors, and two more rear ones behind the passengers.

is there an output sound wire that RCA one? because i didn't connect any of the RCA wires period but i didn't think i had to. To me that kinda makes sense since how does the unit send out system sounds. This was pretty close to the wiring setup I followed the only difference is that second adapter pac-swi-ps

ok further testing shows that yes when I fad all the way to the front i get no sound, all the way down sounds no different than if the fad was in the middle. The left and right seems to work and it effects all the speakers on that side including the rears. I am going to take out the unit now just thought i'd do another thorough check.

In the interest of thoroughness here is some pictures maybe you guys can't point out where I messed up because it looks ok to me but i'm no expert

Thanks again guys for your help and advice I appreciate it

You probably did wire everything correctly, but it's the harness that's screwing things up.

From PAC's website on the CR2-CHY4:

"In Premium Amplified Systems only two input channels can be used from the aftermarket radio, therefore there will be no fading capability of the aftermarket stereo."

great... got to be kidding me that all the research i've done... i'll give you a dozen forum topics about people using this unit and installing it my type car and nobody mention this being an issue?!?!

So that explains the fading which is not a big deal to me but the two inputs which would be in and out i'm assuming? Of course i can't call either pioneer or pac since no support on weekends

Well think I've figured it out. Apparantly the factory amp only listens to the rear speakers. So someone on my car forum suggested since the fad was not working in the front and thats where the voice guidance etc comes from to reverse it. So i took the rear speaker wires from the adapter and plugged them into the corresponding front wires of the Head unit and it worked. I have not even tried to hook up the front speak adapter wires to the rear wires of the HU yet. Do you think that will make any difference?
