im using the pioneer cable that came with the unit.

i tried using an ipod USB cable but got no sound. tho, i forgot to change the HU from ipod to USB.... is that the trick?

I don't have an ipod, and I haven't read this thread, but this might be the answer you were looking for - viewtopic.php?f=32&t=31207

A basic iPod cable won't work. See about get a new Pioneer cable or get the Apple Composite AV cable.

He's not using the right cable, and he asked if software that wasn't designed for the F series while installed on his iphone would work. He was told no and moved on.

Some people could learn a thing or two from him, I think..

Maybe he got the right cable. I don't recall anything about a software question.
