This kinda bugs me with my Z110BT (now upgraded to Z120BT via software). For some reason, most of the time I'll be ahead of where the GPS is showing. Is there a way to adjust this? It's very annoying downtown when you have a lot of roads pretty close together...

Thanks!

There is a setting to adjust your currant position but it will only adjust it until you turn off the unit. This is somewhat common with these units and something you just have to live with.

Yeah there's no way to alleviate this delay.

Only suggestion I have is to make sure the GPS antenna is out in the open, sitting on a metal pad and not under the dash.

Even with perfect reception u will probably still get this delay, that's just the way Pioneer made it out to be.

Posted Jul 13, 2010 · 21:26 UTC#6

It's not even the way Pioneer made it; you have to remember that your headunit is communicating with a satellite that's 12,000 miles above the earth. To be honest, I'm pretty impressed that the delay isn't worse.

Well I don't *recall* my crappy F700BT behaving the same way.... but I guess I don't remember.

If you guys say it's normal, then it's normal. :) Heck, at least it locks a GPS signal REALLY quickly vs my F700 that would take several minutes, at best!

Is your speed sense wire hooked up? I'm not sure this would make any difference. However since it's required to get your calibration "perfected," it may help your situation. My GPS antenna is installed under my front dash with my speed sense wire hooked up. I don't have the problem you have.

Posted Jul 14, 2010 · 04:34 UTC#9

I'm assuming so? It tells my speed on that screen with a car and left and right turns etc... Does that mean it's hooked up?

Also, it tracks me going through tunnels etc, so I figure it has to be hooked up (had a professional audio guy do it).

yeah if you can see the speed on that page, it means the VSS is hooked up and working. The unit also the learning procedure, which supposedly will help the accuracy once it is completed.

How do I know when it's learned all it needs to learn?

Posted Jul 14, 2010 · 06:27 UTC#12

it has a progressive bar which will fill up once it is done learning.

Thanks for the tip. :) I wuv you guys. :D

Looks I was wrong. The VSS wire was not hooked up, but it did still show the approximate speed on the 3D Calibration page. In any case, I wired it up and now the Pulse is starting to count up. The 3D bar is now growing and it says it's now in 3D Hybrid mode, which it wasn't before. I haven't driven much, but hopefully it will get more accurate now?

Thanks for the help...

Just don't be disappointed if it doesn't help.

Posted Jul 15, 2010 · 00:11 UTC#16

it'll help a lil bit but not a whole lot.

Posted Sep 27, 2010 · 18:19 UTC#17

Yeah it didn't help. I don't understand why I'm so much further ahead on the road than the navigation thinks I am. REALLY FRUSTRATING. :(

Posted Sep 27, 2010 · 20:11 UTC#18

just the way it's designed, dude. Don't let it get to you though.

Just causes me much difficulty downtown... *sigh*

Oh well, moving on with life. :)

I have the same problem, seems like I'm about 300 feet behind on the GPS. That is the only weak point on this unit so far. I have my VSS wire connected and have driven several miles for the learning process. I think Garmin blows this away as far as the GPS, but the VR and the rest of the unit are great.

Posted Sep 29, 2010 · 01:38 UTC#21

I had to put 1K plus on my car before the position indicator got closer to my actual location. It never actually positioned correctly however. And the VR on Garmin is much better then with this unit.

ive found the original n1 unit to have been the most accurate over the years,

the rest ive sold and installed over the years have all had this annoying little issue

some ahead and most behind

it was also the most expensive

probably just a fluke

oh well, like others said u will get used to it

I notice that sometimes I am behind the plotted arrow, and sometimes I am in front of it. Not sure if it is a directional thing, meaning a constant error in one direction/quadrant. In that case, for example, I would always be lagging the plot when headed East, and always be trailing the plot when headed West.

This reminds me of the old days before they turned off Selective Availability (SA).

For you young'uns:

SA was a technique to reduce the accuracy of unaugmented, single-receiver GPS

measurements. This was accomplished by altering (or "dithering") the GPS

satellite clock signals, and by modifying orbital elements of the broadcast

navigation message. These alterations were done in a coded fashion, and could be

removed by authorized users. This alteration caused horizontal positional errors

on the order of 100 meters (95%), and varied in a manner that prevented rapid

averaging of positional data.

BTW, I don't have the reverse signal connected (no BU camera), so I really notice an error after backing out of my garage. The map shows me driving across my neighbor's lawn for a couple of blocks. I'm assuming that the speed sensor and some inertial sensors are using dead reconing for the 30 seconds or so that it takes to get a satellite fix. I guess I should hook-up the reverse sensor. Might as well install the camera too.

This is still REALLY cheesing me off, even more now since today I finally turned on the navigation voice. Nothing more annoying than being told "Right Turn Ahead" when I'm already MAKING THE TURN!

I'm beginning to really hate my Z120BT...

Posted May 16, 2011 · 19:31 UTC#25

I assume nobody has any info on how to fix this, yet? Or maybe I'm the only one having this issue?

Maybe the Z130BT is better? (doubtful...)
