Read the whole thread carefully, there are users who have successfully used this European method on US units. I'm sure if you pm them they will help you out with locating US files. If you follow the instructions carefully you will get your unit working. I don't consider myself to be computer literate but I managed to get my unit working again. So save yourself 100 bucks & keep trying!
