I hate when that happens on legit forums.... People bringin their ideas together, workin together, helping each other out, then ,BAM! corporate fucks have to spam us with their brainless advertising..... What should we do? Can we just delete their posts?

Posted Jan 18, 2007 · 18:25 UTC#2

Yes, but Jason DOES have a day job! LOL He will take care of things when he gets home.

Hangem by their balls. Hagem hi. Use that M4.

I'm sure that Jason can delete the posts but he would be doing it daily. He should also consider deleting their membership status if that's possible.

Oh he does... he also check the IP addresses and stuff like that. It's all on file.

If the spams show up in the Z1 forums (where I'm a moderator) let me know and I can take car of them. Take a little work off Jason.

But anywhere else, send a PM with a link to the post to JasonH and he will take care of it. If someone wants to, post a message after the spam warning unsuspecting users it's just spam and to disregard the message. Jason or I will take care of it when we have a chance.

But why should I pay $2.00? Everyone before me got bread for free!

Posted Jan 18, 2007 · 19:55 UTC#10

I don't know what more to do guys.

I have IP filters in place for common spam addresses, I require visual confirmation on registration, and I require email validation.

I delete spam as soon as I see it, but I'm in school most of the day.

There is really nothing I can do short of manually activating each and every member.

Posted Jan 18, 2007 · 19:59 UTC#11

It's all good Jason! Youre doing a great job!

Dude, don't worry about it. You can't stop every single one from getting posted. Let the members find the spam and mark it and have them PM you for the ones to delete. I think what you have no is fine, without becoming a problem for normal users.

yea... nice work Jason, no one is complaining at all, just trying to figure out how to stop reading about "botox" on the AVIC forum!!hahaha

Seinfeld was awesome, but what about "Curb your enthusiasm?"

Larry David's finest work.... It's just like my life!

Dude the only thing I'd ever want to do is remove the spam. I don't beleive in editing or deleting anyone's posts.

So that means you don't wanna spank people like DB either?

hey, this is a bit off topic even for this thread, but in the email response that goes out with a thread reply, is it possible to have the reply in the email as well? like the last reply and then like some other forums, say that there may be other responses.. view thread at such and such link

Posted Mar 12, 2007 · 21:50 UTC#24

HEY, what if you create a section for spam?

lol

no kidding kind of, is it possible to make someone not able to post in any section until they post in a particular section... kinda like a get your feet wet section before allowed to post elsewhere? i would think spammers wouldnt take the time to read the rules and know to post even a simple "hi, new here, thanks" before trying to post elsewhere. You could create a special section just for new users, and they could be silly in that thread, especially people that are not productive with their first posts, second, third, and even 5.

maybe?

Posted Mar 12, 2007 · 22:04 UTC#25

What about those who aren't productive after 2000 posts?
