Hi guys,

I finally upgrade my car and will be selling my avic-d3 for a X930BT.

I had a few questions for you experts.

Does the X930BT play/control Pandora wirelessly via bluetooth a2dp or does it require the ipod/iphone cable?

I also wanted to play Slingbox audio on the screen. Does anyone know what kind of cables I'll need? I think I would have to use the RCA cables to connect it to the back, as I didn't see any other video 'input' connections. Can anyone confirm? I think I also need specific Apple branded output cables on my iphone for it to play 'mirror' or play what's on my screen as it's not playing a video.

Can anyone with Slingbox confirm please?

thx all!

you can stream pandora through BT and you'll be able to skip tracks and adjust volume but the HU will not display album art nor will you be able to choose playlists or thumbs up/down from the HU. (i think some folks have reported that iOS5 will enable these features)

the 51v iphone cable will let you do video out from the iphone to the HU. it won't mirror unless you're jailbroken and have some tweaks installed. the video will play on the HU and your phone will act as a remote with skip, pause/play and slider functions.

So it's safe to say that it supports BT a2dp? So any music on my iphone whether its via ipod or a radio app will play wirelessly on my x930?

yes. most times i just leave my phone in my pocket now. i just choose my playlist before i get in the car and just press play when the BT connects. the few times i actually plug in my phone is when it needs charging or when my passenger wants to get netflix or some other video app going. you can even play netflix on the phone and just have the audio stream go to the HU.

Ok, I just bought the X930bt. I'm trying to find a solution to play Slingbox from my iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S on the X930bt.

I noticed that the x930bt only has RCA inputs and not HDMI. Video mirroring is supported on the iPhone 4S but its only through an HDMI cable. I don't think there's a way to convert HDMI to RCA.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas? I want to refrain from jailbreaking my iphone to use with the ipod cable. I am able to buy the RCA AV cable for my iphone, but Slingbox media stated that it will only work in HQ mode, which means fast internet via WiFi. So if I'm on the road using 3G, it will not work.

Any ideas?

thanks

Maybe this will work with the app mode or application mode?

According to this youtube video, any app that supports video output will display. Has anyone tried it with slingbox?

i think it may be possible. i won't have a chance to update to iOS 5 until late tonight at the earliest. you want to give it a shot?

i actually could not wait any longer i went to best buy and for sure thinking they where going to say hell no lol

i asked if there was anything they could do i talked to the manager told them very nicely

amazon has it for 599.00 walmart has it for 649.00 and that is walmart.com

Pioneer also has a 100 dollar mail in rebate but it is not good on best buy purchases she said oh really wow

she left for about 20 minutes came back and said ok here is what i can do i can price match what walmart selling it for so she looked up on walmart.com and saw that it was even less then 649 she said your in luck its 598and change on walmart

so she gave me the 201 dollar price match discount winch she said she really was not allowed to do but she is the GM and said the hell with it she wanted to be nice

but don't tell anyone so i guess i just screwed this up and told yall here on the forum lol

i also got the 4 year best buy warranty that covers everything except accidental damage and theft

for 59.99

but i was not going to spend 129 for there gmos06 or 99 for there metra steering wheel interface because i i got the interface from amazon for 35 that best buy wanted 99 for and the GMOS06 for 80 from amazon that best buy wanted 129 for

my friend has the antenna adapter he will give me for free got the double din kit for 13 on amazon and the ipod pioneer real deal Pioneer harness for 26.99 from amazon

so just have to wait till next Wednesday at the latest when they will get here ten on the 22nd im going to Pittsburgh where i am goiing to have help with the install

OK, don't update to iOS5. it totally broke the connection w/ AVIC units. ipod will work sometimes. pandora will work sometimes. now the only way to listen to it enjoyably is to stream it through BT.

Posted Oct 14, 2011 · 05:01 UTC#15

Oh wow so iso5 will not let you use the ipod cable and work correctly ?

im a little confused here so your syaing if i want iso5 then the only way to listen is to use BT ?

but if i want to see my play lists then i need to stay with the current version i have not updated yet correct ?

According to this youtube video, any app that supports video output will display. Has anyone tried it with slingbox?

Can anyone confirm that SLINGPlAYER will work in 'APP MODE'?

I know Sling Media Support says

  • SlingPlayer must be running in High Quality (HQ) streaming mode.

  • You must use the Apple Digital AV Adapter, the Apple Component AV Cable or the Apple Composite AV cable. Visit the Apple Store online for more information and product availability.

So I'm not sure if it will work if iPhone is connected to the Pioneer CD-IU51V iPod cable....

Can anyone confirm pleeeeeease?!?!

Posted Oct 18, 2011 · 02:06 UTC#17

if the app outputs video natively, it will work. i don't have sling but netflix, airvideo, hbo go, xfinity, youtube, vevo, vlc and vimeo all work.

Posted Oct 18, 2011 · 20:46 UTC#18

I read that the knock off versions of the pioneer ipod/iphone cable, CD-IU51V don't work on video. Is that the case? There are alot on eBay for a fraction of the price. Is it worth buying the actual Pioneer one for $40??

Posted Oct 18, 2011 · 23:32 UTC#19

better safe than sorry, bud! i got the real deal cable for my 930BT but i did buy a knock off cable from amazon.com for my previous 3300BT and it worked perfectly. the thing is that amazon.com had a bunch of good reviews for it so i didn't hesitate too much. i don't know that i can say the same for ebay.

Posted Oct 18, 2011 · 23:38 UTC#20

What im going threw is i got my cable and i ordered it from amazon.com and got it from amazon not a 3rd party on amazon and they are a authorized pioneer dealer but the cable did not come with anything that said Pioneer on it or any paper work from pioneer so makes me wonder if someone just returned a cable that was a knock off in place of the real one after purchasing it and thinking since there is no way to really tell the difference between the 2 or not

so i won't know till i get the system up and running

but for those who have purchased the cables form authorized pioneer dealers and got the real cable did they have a orange sticker on it ? like this one i got from amazon but i have no idea weather it is real or not

Ok guys I need some serious help. I've been searching the other parts of the forums for this issue. My installer tried to do the bypass. He moved the yellow mute button next to the red wire and attached the green parking brake wire and the yellow wire to a black wire (ground) all together. He even tested the ground and its good.

I'm still getting the error message that says "impromper connection of parking brake lead." Any speed above 10 miles per hour blacks out the video.

Possibly related question. Does the x930bt's buttons light up during the day? Meaning when the headlights are in the off position? I remember on my avic D3, the lights and LCD used to dim at night when I turned on the lights.

On this x930bt the LCD does not dim when I turn on the lights. The LCD screen looks rather dim during the daytime and the lights stay on all the time?

Is this normal? I'm afraid it's due to the faulty by pass?

God my installer is a dumbass

Posted Oct 19, 2011 · 03:29 UTC#22

Sure sounds like your installer is the problem to me. Everything you described sounds like installer error. And the bypass is faulty. Its likely the mute wire is not properly seated.

Posted Oct 19, 2011 · 03:43 UTC#23

Does anyone know about the lighting of the LCD and buttons?

i think i read somewhere that the x930bt has a mode selection for Auto/Day mode but not nite

i think there is a wire that is supposed to be connected to the headlamp or something along that line so that when your headlamps turn on the nite mode turns on

but im not sure

Am interested in knowing this also

you can stream pandora through BT and you'll be able to skip tracks and adjust volume but the HU will not display album art nor will you be able to choose playlists or thumbs up/down from the HU.

Can someone confirm that you are able to skip tracks and adjust volume through Bluetooth on Pandora? I don't see that option on my screen. I am just able to press play or pause. Please see picture #1 below. Another weird thing is that it says 'Andy's iPhone Connecting' and the word CONNECT on the bottom when it's already connected. I have an iPhone 4S iOS5. It plays Pandora music fine, but I don't have any options to skip or adjust volume like barney stinson said above. When I do click connect, I see a pop up that says, 'Please start the connection on the audio device'

Can anyone confirm please?
