I am finally working on the new knob for the X930BT. Keep an eye out for the announcement soon.

For those of you who do not know me, I am the maker of the better knobs for the F series and X series units. I have sold over 3000 knobs to date and counting.

The X930BT is a totally different knob in size than the F and the X.

Knobs should be ready in early November.

Thank you all for your support and kind messages!!!

Any release date or pricing on it

I am currently working on the prototype. Actual knobs should be ready in a few weeks. Any special ideas or requests?

Should be around $15.00 including shipping.

how do they or will they attach to the unit

will they snap over the orignal knobs or do we pull the knobs out and put these in its place when they are finished ?

I'm working that out right now as to which way works better. Probably going to just press on to the old knob. Any comments or suggestions?

im not sure how others would like it but i think if its not to hard to take the nobs off id like one that i could put in place of my nob only because i don't want to have to send my unit in for service and be told that since i altered the knob that my system is voided

Can't wait, I am really having difficulty using the tiny one on my x930bt. Will it be fully plastic or rubberized? :)

waiting

I just installed the X930BT in my truck (while working on the new knobs) and holy crap this thing needs a knob. Everyone who has contacted me has said it's too small, they were right to say the least!

Help is on the way folks! I'm machining away on knobs as we speak. Should be available around Nov. 15 or so. After machining, I have to get them Black annodized so that is why it will be a few weeks more.

BTW someone asked about the grip. All of my knobs have been knurled to provide an awesome grippy surface. That is what I am doing on this one as well. It will also press onto the old knob. I know a few people have expressed concern over service issues if they ever have to send their unit in, but here's why I have to do it this way. The knob slips onto a "D" shaped volume shaft. It would be very difficult to make a female "D" shaped hole on the back of the new knob. It's just one of those machining issues that would make the knob very expensive. So to save us all money, I machine the knob to fit OVER the old knob, it simply presses on. Take 10 seconds to install.

I will post pics as soon as I have one ready to look at (I get the first one LOL).

It presses on with your thumb. That knob sucks so bad I would gladly buy an extra old sucky knob if I ever had to send the unit in. There is a link to the factory knob somewhere on here. I also have never heard of Pioneer rejecting a repair for knob change. Not yet anyway. :?

Im definitely in! I'll buy 2, one for me, and one for my bro.

Good news Thumper. Thanks to your concerns I have figured out a way to machine 2 small slots in the back so that you could easily remove the knob if you ever had to send in for service. You would simply gently pry off the new knob and send it in. People have asked about this in the past but I never really thought anyone would want to remove the knob. Once you put it on your AVIC you will immediately piss your pants at how much better it works. Not sure what those guys at Pioneer were thinking. With the old knob I am constantly hitting the touch screen and its all but impossible to crank the damn volume. No longer my friends. HELP IS ON THE WAY!!!!!! Just tested the prototype and it works AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi what's the progress on this?

Posted Nov 07, 2011 · 03:48 UTC#25

Still working on them. They are going to the finisher for annodizing next week. I will post on here when they are ready. I have the prototype in my truck and have been using it for a week or so and it is simply awesome!

This is one of the best mods you can make to your AVIC for ergos. Works WAY better than the small slippery stock knob.

Also this knob will be removable so you could remove it if you ever wanted to or needed to send in your unit for service.
