Do you have XM Navtraffic activated?
Those buttons are only available with Navtraffic.

Do you keep your car in a garage? Was the car in the garage when you activated the NavTraffic?

yeah i was in the garage when i call XM, but i take it out and drove around until it activated around 20mins, but right when it activated i put it back in the garage...
It needs to update the information on traffic events, which is not something that is continually broadcast as a stream, it is sent periodically, and whenever there is a change. This may take about 10-20 minutes, depending on weather and if there are any obstructions around.
apax,
as far as the traffic on route button being greyed out it is probably because you didn't set a route anywhere. Mine is gray until I set a route and then this is works fine.......... I guess it's because it is what it says... traffic in route. Go figure.
Are the favorite and browse buttons grayed out?

This is true. I really should start reading the entire thread before posting.

My favorites came back on last weekend. Freaky.
i tried everything but unfortunely my traffic on route button is still grey.... ![]()
That button will be greyed out unless you have an active route set up. Then it will come on to notify you of traffic conditions along your route.

okay, so let me get this straight, it will go on only if the traffic condition changes on my active route.
That I am not positive of, since any time I use this function, there are ALWAYS traffic problems, since there are very few people down here that can drive for more than a month without smacking into something.
Is your unit bypassed?
yeah, who's unit is not....![]()
My co-workers isn't and his is greyed out constantly, thats why I was curious. What freeway are you on in SD when you typically try to use the navtraffic?
during the week it's I-5 and the weekend's it's I-805
Old thread, I know. But i have a bypassed Avic D3 with active navtraffic service. I can set a route somewhere, and the traffic on route button is still greyed out. What's more, on one occasion, I pressed the "XM Traffic" button, and it gave me the old "There is no traffic information on your route". but when i looked at the list, there was an accident right on the highway I was taking (inner loop of 495 in the DC metro). Is something wrong with my stuff?
Nope, it looks like 495 is an Incident Only Freeway, which means the list will show you where accidents and construction are. To actually have the Nav verbally tell you about speed and show the speed bubbles on the map, you need to be driving on a Flow & Incident Freeway.
Here is your NavTraffic Coverage map:
Yeah, I understand that, but I was under the impression that if there was actually an incident on my route, it would tell me about it, instead of telling me the exact opposite. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the way it works.
I am sorry to say but it doesnt work like that. If you have a route programmed, AND you are on a Flow monitored roadway, the AVIC will tell you "There is slow moving traffic ahead", and the screen will prompt you if you want to reroute. The AVIC will only verbally notify for speed-related instances, not Incident items.
I see... That somewhat blows... But, if I hit the "XM Traffic" button, does that not tell me (or show me) incidents that are on my way?
Sorry to be such a pain, but this seems counterintuitive.
