I been a broadcast engineer for over 20 years. If it is a true standard hdmi plug that means you should be able to also use a hdmi switcher to add Xbox and apple tv (og version) and switch between two connection. Also you should be able to use it as an output to be able to send out to hdmi monitors or get an RCA to hdmi and push video out to say rear monitors. So watching a video from the iPhone can be extended to rear monitors. That's if it is a standard hdmi port. But I'm guessing that pioneer has it dumb down to only go one way as many tvs and such. It would be interesting to find out. I guess I will experiment when I get mine this week.

The touch events of the app radio are controlled by bluetooth, so you need to have a stick with bluetooth. I've been looking at the FX1 Cotton Candy stick, but at nearly $200, I am waiting until a cheap imitation comes out. I think it would be nice just to have phone for hands free and data and the hdmi stick for everything else.

That should do the trick, yes. I have my ug007 rooted, and am going to try to make ARLiberator work with it this weekend.

If you have an iPhone5 or an iPad 4th gen, you've found out that the AppRadio2 is pretty much DOA since you can't plug in the 30 pin connector. They claim that you can use the 30 pin to lighting adapter for iPod use, but it didn't work for me and there's no video anyways. So, use the HDMI port, that's what I do, and its better than nothing. Here's a video of what you get:

Here's my follow on video that shows how to connect your AppRadio2 to the Apple TV and view in the car. Watch the first one above that shows how to direct connect via HDMI cable, then check out this video:

I'm in the process of remodeling a house, so I haven't had any time to mess with mine. People with more experience than me have been having all sorts of issues from pairing to reverse touch gestures to screen resolution. I'm sure these issues can all be resolved, but I believe the developers might need to step in to help.
