Hey everyone,

This season I am going to be hooking up my XDV-P9 to my D2. I have a few questions...

1. Can the P9 be connected without using the RCA's to the D2.....I have a dreamcast (I'm old school like that) hooked up to my AUX already. If so - what des the IPbus do?

2. Do I need to use the remote (I have one....but would rather control everything thru the H/U

If I need to use the AUX input for the P9 - anyone have any good ways of hooking up two devices to share the one AUX input (using one at a time obviously).

Thanks!

I'm not sure if the XDV-P9 has AV-Bus.

If it has AV-Bus, then you hook that up into the D2 along with the IP-Bus. If it doesn't have AV-Bus, then you can either hook it up using the RCAs, or make a wire to convert RCA to AV-Bus.

The audio is carried on the IP-Bus, so you're fine with that. The video is on the AV-Bus. I did this with my TV tuner. You need to buy an AV bus cable and splice it to an RCA cable. The instructions for doing so are in this thread:

I found it a lot easier to remove the plastic around one end of the AV-Bus and remove the pins I needed, rather than just chopping the whole thing off. I also went to Radioshack and bought an RCA cable that was missing the plug on one end. You are going to need to hook up the video + from the RCA to the video + of the AV-Bus, ground to ground, and you are going to need to get a 12V+ source to hook into the AV-Bus to signal the D2 to turn on the input. All in all its a pretty simple mod. It only took me a couple of minutes to do.

Sounds pretty easy - just need to convert the video (yellow RCA) too the AV bus. The sound is taken care of by the IP bus then....
