Anyone know how to remove the purple "Direction Line" from the screen when putting in a destination.

 

I find it extremely annoying.

I don't believe you can.  I've owned three AVIC's over the past 10 years and they've all had this line.  Here's an old thread on it but again the answer even back then is no.  The only thing you can toggle is the bread crumb trail (or history).  It should be a feature I agree.
