First of all THANK YOU I was not about to pay pioneer 80$ plus uninstallation/reinstallation fees for a 5 min fix not to mention shipping it all the way to california. I would like to add to this that when I did txtdump it didnt show me my password only my password hint ughh but after a little searching around i did find that it is also accessible in the binary dump the first line all the way to the right should be the password you set up ( minus all the . . .) in case that helps anyone else! 

is there any way you can do a video and show to me. Sorry im really confused can't really find it. 

OK I tried to download the file it won't let me then there's the fact someone said I needed to put my SD card into my radio first OK will someone just dummify this for me please!!??!!

Hi Guys, I checked your comments, I have a bigger problem, my pioneer doesn't let me to open the panel to get access to sd memory area as it is located behind the panel and now it is locked, can you please help me how can I open the touch screen panel,?

Can you please tell me what you mean by WISH#1 post as I am having the same problem where it's failing to load test mode?

As an engineer, I found this really cool. I could rattle around in the guts of the system. I have always found my AVIC-X850BT really unintuitive to operate. 

I forgot my password, it works. I cannot believe they store it as a simple plain text password but thank goodness they did. 

Wow I'm so thankful to have found this. I did a hard reset on my AVIC-x950bh and ran into a password. I bought the car used and the deck was in it. I never thought I'd be able to use the deck again. But this method worked easy and flawless. Thank you!!!

can anyone help me every time i try to download test mode on a mac computer its says that i cannot download for some reason exact words what am i doing wrong? thanks

Hi there,

I recently bought a used car and I had to replace the battery when I was prompted with this password issue.

My head unit model is AVH-X8750BT, how do I gain access to the SD card slot as it is behind the touch panel?

I do have  2x external USB ports but nothing happened when i inserted the sd card with an adapter.

I have a problem did the test mode retrieved my password but when i enter it its still want unlock HELP!

I had to disconnect the battery from my jeep, and the system came up with a password requirement. I used this process, and it worked perfectly for my AVIC-x850BT!  Thank you!

Okay so I got everything done, took a picture and typed in what seems to be the password “EBRT” and it didn’t work. Help?

Remove that file (\NAND\SYSTEM\SECURITY\SECURITY.DAT) and the password will go away. Just to be safe, copy it somewhere first.

Yeah? Care to elaborate on how to delete this file? My X850BT has the enter password keys all grey (AKA disabled) and no amount of emergency brake signal manipulation matters. It is not a hardware issue and I am an engineer with 34 years in electronic systems. I can get "testmode" up but it has limited utility. I cannot find a utility that enables me to delete or copy anything. I am trying to decide to drop the unit in a dumpster or send it in. I don't give up easily but it is not hardware and it worked up until the last battery change in my truck. I even know the password. It is not a password issue, it is a software inhibit issue... Hackmode doesn't work.
