I don't think I'll need before and during pics....there are tons of out of box photos on Pioneer's website, and I'm hiring a garage to put it in for me. But count on after photos, as well as how my dash looked before the upgrade.

I'm an iPhone 5S user. Any ideas on how I should route the Apple digital AV adapter? My plan is to replace the aux wire (that headphone jack wire that's already routed to the armrest between the two seats) with a combo of HDMI and lightning cable, hooked to the adapter, while underneath everything....and then use a lightning extension cable from www.cablejive.com to route out.

Anybody have a better idea?

That's pretty much how I did my installation in my Grand Prix: I ran the cable under the console, then up through the storage box. I keep the iPod there so I don't have a "steal me" sign on the car.

yeah, I don't have a storage box in my center console.  I drive an Audi TT.....if you drive a roadster, be thankful if you even have a cup holder!

I was told by my dealer that he will have the 8000 in 10 days

Posted Mar 08, 2014 · 14:44 UTC#34

how much is he selling it for?

how many will he be getting?

i was talking to a store yesterday.

Tekki.....10 days eh?  What part of the world do you live in?  I'm in Baltimore MD.  If you are nearby, I may need to contact my shop and let them know that!

IEI IN HAZLET New Jersey is my source, he said he couldn't give me a price yet though. They are usually very reliable within a few days when I get my stuff there.

Soooo....iPhone users....do you think App mode is a good enough compromise for not having "CarPlay"?  As much as I would prefer CarPlay, I'm not about to buy a whole new car over that feature.  Even if $$$ weren't the reason, I need to state a few things here.....

....I feel COMPLETE with my Audi TT.  It is AWD and has a convertible top.  only other roadster to meet these qualifications would be a Porsche 911 4, and I don't have the dough for that (yet).  The newer TT's of 2015 will do away with the DIN/Double DIN radios, and bundle the radio into the driver's gauge cluster, thereby making it unable to swap out for something of your own.....and they have announced NOT going for CarPlay.

So basically, Audi TT or Porsche 911, it doesn't look like CarPlay is compatible with my vehicular preferences.  I like AWD roadsters. So to all of you current Avic and AppRadio owners out there.....do you find Pioneer's offerings to be "good enough"?

One more question...Audi is not compliant with iDatalink's Maestro.  Should my shop still be able to setup my steering wheel buttons to work with the 8000nex?

Anybody hear back from their shops yet? Are the NEX units in yet?

Posted Mar 12, 2014 · 03:23 UTC#43

ill call tomorrow to the shops around me so see if anyone got it.

My shop acts like they're getting annoyed of my once-per-day follow ups. You know what?? They have my $400 deposit, so they're going to continue hearing from me until it's actually in my car.

Units never hit the street when expected.

I've never been stalking a nav unit before....I'm all up in this like it's the latest game console or something.

Sure hope you're not setting yourself up for disappointment.

As stated before.....so long as it connects to my iPhone AT ALL (the OEM of an Audi TT does not!), I'm tickled pink.  Sad but true, that's all it will take to please me.  The glass capacitive touch screen is an added bonus.  As for accuracy of the built in maps?  Yo.....I'm still on 2008 maps in my OEM.  I don't get well-routed right now anyway...

im not far from you. im excited with all the new options i hav been missing that others have had. all i wanted was pandora and new maps.

bonus for me:

HD radio,

capacitive touch screen,

updated version of xmsirius,

mirror link,

pinch and zoom,

built in bluetooth,

USB,

free live nav traffic.

i think people now a days are jaded and spoiled.  if you give them a free burger, these same people say where is the free fries and drink?
