The AVICSync app will be for the nex units in order to get connected services running. This app has not been released yet as per my phone call with pioneer.

to me Pioneer needs to get their stuff together. Why they would release these decks with a wealth of features that are not working (idatalink, AvicSync, etc). they are just rolling themselves into the area of class-action. 

Because there are a lot of people that want what the unit offers now. Most of the people in this section of the forum no doubt. And good luck on trying to sue them for this. They do things like this every year.

That's what pioneer told me on the phone when i inquired about it, so we can just hope I guess

Don't forget we'll have to pay for the connected services too, I hope they don't make them too costly. My Toyota came with them for free but the interface sucked!!

really? well Toyota is a cheap company and most car makers who do add these services charge because they require a dedicated data connection inside the car. so i really don't think we will have to pay anything but if you have a link i would love to see it because there isn't much out there on the AVICSYNC app. 

So we are pending Maestro support, Carplay and this AvicSync app....man, this firmware update is no small update whatsoever!

if you download the manual and look at page 24, it tells you that "connected services require downloading the AvicSync app (subscription required)" and elsewhere I read that "a subscription is required after the trial period". Toyota was initially going to charge for their services after 1 or 3 years, I forget which.. but I think they changed it to free.

When is this app supposed to arrive?! "Early summer" is too vague a deadline, for a product line price ranging at $700-$1400, that is an incomplete product without it

When I called pioneer, which I had a few times because I had several questions as I got more familiar with the unit I still asked the same questions to see what kind of answers I would get and each time they just said summer was the release for the AVICSync app. I have been checking the App Store frequently anyway because I'm OCD Like that. 😳 getting through sucked as each time it was at least a 30-45 minute on hold so I would call, put the phone on speaker and just wait while doing something

The Apple World Wide Developer Conference starts Monday. My guess, since macrumors.com is reporting a couple weeks for the firmware upgrade (and that was a couple weeks ago when they did that), that they will announcing the upgrade tomorrow maybe with pioneer. Might seems to be the way Apple does stuff but who knows.

Carplay was a major selling point for me but now that I have the unit if it's a dud (which I doubt it will be) I'm super happy with my 7000.

I'm still not sure what to think of the connected services though, I want to try them but I'm not sure id pay a subscription to keep them though.

Depends on the price of the sub. If its like $10 a year or something, I'd do it just to say I have it.
