Yes they did. The website (as of right now) says Summer 2014.
Initially it said EARLY Summer. That ship sailed next stop ? Fall. I still like my 8000, I just would like to be able to use it as advertised.

They've been completely silent for weeks, and they've failed to update their website. I'm starting to get concerned. Should we check on them? Has Pioneer USA fallen and can't get up? http://youtu.be/ln-YViin6p0
lol
I just looked and Pioneer has taken all mention of CarPlay off the main page of their website. But, if you look up the individual NEX units, they all still say "CarPlay coming Summer 2014." Nice.
I have had no issues with my 5 & 8000NEX.
Tomorrow, I'll report what my 6+ does.
My iPhone 6 with iOS 8 does not work bluetooth wise with my 8000NEX. When i get in the car to drive down the street, they connect and then it immediately pops up a dialing box, on the screen like i'm calling someone. This cannot be hung up on and upon minimization it pops back up a few moments later and i can't really do anything with my NEX. Sometimes it says Call Waiting, sometimes it's some random number in my phone book. So either the Pioneer until cannot handle bluetooth with 6 (and 6+ i guess) or there's something buggy with how iOS8/iPhones communicate with bluetooth and they need to fix it. On a similar note my MacBook Pro also is having issues bluetoothing to my phone as well. So i'm making an educated guess that it's iOS8/iPhone rather than some newer tech/version that Pioneer can't deal with. I believe they still use bluetooth 4.1 (that should be the latest).
I just used mine with no issues. Sorry you are having a problem.
I understand the frustration. But why would you update to the "latest and greatest" os...which really doesn't seem that vastly different...knowing that there is compatibility issues (its not just isolated to Pioneer product, this happens EVERY time Apple releases a new phone and OS).
From my perspective its not all that valuable to me that Pioneer (if it is Pioneer) works with older releases of IOS. From time to time I will be upgrading my phone. Perhaps I've been lucky but I haven't experienced many (if any) compatibility issues with the IOS upgrades. You could make an argument that Pioneer only commits to the versions of IOS that they state in their guide book but my experience is that even with those versions I have constant cases of AppRadio failures. I'm hoping (possibly falsely) that Apple eliminates the issues by relegating Pioneer to nothing more than touch screen controls.
iPhone 6/6+ comes with ios8 & I am having no issues on my 5 with 8. It is still (yesterday) possible to downgrade to 7.2.
I just installed iOS 8.0.2 (yes, I am brave!). It seems to have fixed all the Bluetooth issues I was having between my iPhone 6 and NEX. Hopefully it won't be a temporary thing... I'd love to hear if others have similar success with 8.0.2!
