Anyone else having this problem? Whenever I shut the car off while playing music through CarPlay, there is a loud POP of static that comes through the speakers.

This never happened before the update, and at least one other person posted the same issue on the Pioneer Facebook page. Have to keep remembering to stop the music or turn the volume down before shutting the car off.

That is nothing new that is an issue these units are having and I thought mine went away today with the firmware update when actually it didn't. They suppose to have a firmware update in the near future just for this issue. Contact pioneer and let them know it is happening to you now. I called a month ago.

Its just strange because it never happened before today. Oh, well...I guess it's the price I have to pay to get CarPlay.

I've had mine since tje 1st month of release, and I've been pretty active on this site, I don't recall anyone bringing up a popping sound with their Nex unit

Pal you need to go back and read through this forum because they have plenty of topics on here with that. You just never paid attention to it because it is not happening to you.

Join the Static club and call pioneer about the issue. They should have been had this fixed.

I heard pop for the first time today also. jarred me a bit.

Doing that to me for the first time today. Never happened before. I thought it just had to do with Carplay. I will try again when not in Carplay.

SO glad others are experiencing this as well.  My AVH4000NEX did not exhibit this at all prior to the update.  Now whenever I power the car off or detach the faceplate, I get a loud POP, which is AWFUL for the speakers, mind you.  For the sake of troubleshooting, my speakers are run off an external power amp & RCA outs, not the internal power amp.  Unfortunately, Pioneer will probably have to release an update to fix this.

Call pioneer asap cause some of us already have this issue before the firmware update.

Posted Oct 03, 2014 · 12:39 UTC#12

Will calling Pioneer do anything? They weren't exactly responsive to our complaints about the CarPlay delay.

Well they need to know about the issue that is going on . I will make the call again since yall scared to do it

Eric, you need to calm down a little bit. I understand from your many posts about this issue that you are extremely concerned about it, but coming on here and being snide and rude to people really doesn't make anyone want to jump on board and help you.

Well if you spent 1500 on a unit and you had to change two units out in your car already for this issue you would seem rude about the issue. This site is for us to help each other out and all I see is selfish posts when I am letting yall know to call pioneer about the issue. The more they know about the issue the sooner we get an update. I have been on the phone and hold with pioneer enough to hear them tell me this is the first they hear of any issue like this. I have a video I have tried to send them and they tell me they can't get that from me. I am always calm brother maybe you should help with the issue by calling.

Did I say I wouldn't call? No. I simply questioned Pioneer's concern for our complaints, as we've been complaining for months about CarPlay and haven't gotten a single response. That's all, man. But if it makes you feel like you're getting something accomplished to call people selfish and scared on the Internet, knock yourself out.

i don't have time to argue with you on this situation. I called already this morning and I got the same thing told to me that this is the first time they are hearing about the situation. When pioneer doesn't seem to check this site or put down in notes that others have called this morning about this situation. I always get the best line from them saying they will send it to the engineer for this problem to be checked out. please provide your name, address, and etc for us to contact you back.

A "me too" for this issue. I called Pioneer yesterday. I spent a long time on the phone going through every possible combination of resets. Pioneer claims they "have not heard of this issue." They want me to send the unit to them "for repair." This means driving around with a hole in my dashboard for an undetermined amount of time. I am not happy about this. They should be able to patch this with a firmware update. Goes without saying, but if you are experiencing this problem, call Pioneer support and tell them to fix this. I left a voicemail with the supervisor to see if they could just swap my unit so I would not be without. My unit is only 3 weeks old. And I looked forward to CarPlay...

Don't send them your unit. They told me that before and I told them they need a firmware update for the unit. Pioneer really is a trip with the things they say.

Posted Oct 05, 2014 · 14:08 UTC#20

Absolutely do NOT send in your unit. My 4000 worked fine before the update, and the static pop started immediately after the update. So, it is obviously a firmware problem that Pioneer needs to fix.

Posted Oct 05, 2014 · 16:44 UTC#21

I agree, I don't plan on sending in the unit. I'm afraid though that because not everyone is experiencing the issue Pioneer may never get around to fixing it.

Posted Oct 05, 2014 · 17:29 UTC#22

Well, I'll be calling them tomorrow and hopefully they'll hear about it from enough people to do something about it. But I don't have my hopes up too high.

Posted Oct 05, 2014 · 19:04 UTC#23

With any luck this is on Apple's end. At least when they break things they usually fix them sooner or later.

Posted Oct 05, 2014 · 21:10 UTC#24

If you disable CarPlay in Smartphone Settings on the radio, the pop goes away when listening to music through iPhone sources (local music, pandora app, etc.) If you can't stand the pop like me, at least we have the ability to return to pre-CarPlay functionality of the radio.

Everyone experiencing this issue, Pioneer called me today in response to a voicemail I had left with a supervisor in customer support. He was very understanding of my (and everyone experiencing this issue's) frustration. He says they have now been able to reproduce the issue themselves, it is firmware related, although they haven't pinned down the exact cause. They believe it is only effecting those who use external amplifiers, and they are working to fix the issue. He also said that sending the unit in would not be productive, the rep that asked me to do that was just following protocol, and they won't be asking others who call in with the issue to do the same.
