Got my D3 installed with the mod, looks great so far. Just one quick question, does anyone know how Divx discs should be formatted? I burned some Divx files onto a DVD-R and it said unreadable. Is there a limit on file name lengths? If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

I'm curious about the same.

what makes you think divx is playable on it in the first place??

Because the specs state divx video support.

show me where. i don't see it on the pioneer website.

IF it does (big if) make sure you aren't using q-pel or bframes, those are usually killers for compatibility. i know they won't work in an avox unit.

Posted Mar 09, 2007 · 16:59 UTC#9

Nifty, I see it now. Unfortunately it doesn't give much information about which divx formats it actually supports.

I might be an idiot bmuhfeld, but at least I can install one, you dipshit.

oh, i forgot, you're just not 'familiar' with it yet. enjoy.

I never said I could not install one..... Another example of you not being able to read correctly.....

does it state anything on the instruction manual?

Reach,

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to be witty and sarcastic like others on the forum, but the difference is they actually know what they are talking about. What makes me think that the D3 can play Divx is that it says so right on the BOX and on the FACE of the unit, not to mention it is on every description of the unit. Perhaps you should not be so quick to snap at a simple question and let others try to answer first.

Also some of the people that's buying D3 is because of the DivX functionality, you think all of us misread that important info? heh

Now now boys play nice.

Posted Mar 10, 2007 · 01:26 UTC#15

I didn't buy it for divx... I just didn't know.

Now go eat a bag of dicks one and all

I would not consider that playing nice.

Anywooo to get back in topic...

What i found out was the file has to be of course DivX format... not XviD, 3ivx, or any other mpeg-4 type format. I choose the Home Theatre encoding to convert my south park episode from XviD to DivX. Audio can only be either MP3 or AC3. Then i just burned it onto cd as if i was burning a mp3 cd/dvd...

Popped the disc in and it played fine.

Thanks CiD, appreciate the info. And I just wanted to apologize for adding into the flames. I have no problem with someone being a wise guy, but the guys that usually do actually have something constructive to add to the topic. Thats the difference between being funny and helpful or being a douche.

Can someone confirm that the D3 will only play DIVX Codec and not XVID. That is a very important piece of infomation, for not only myself but others considering to buy. Tks

Mr. Ceddy, I downloaded a scene release (group was LOL i think) episode of Lost, 24, and Heroes onto a dvd-r off bittorrent, it was an xvid ac5.1 hdtv rip. Did NOT play in the d3, which was a little disappointing. Unit sees the files on the drive but errors out when you try to play them.

I believe this is the confirmation you needed.

XVID is a completely different company/codec than DIVX. It only says it can play dvix.

Are you sure it didnt play because of the 5.1 AC3 audio? Xvid and Divx are both essentially MPEG-4, it has nothing to do with what companies make which. I'm getting my D3 today, I'll do a lot of testing then.
