First I want to say that the D3 installs are looking real good. I took a gamble with the Kenwood unit so I'll see if it pays off. If it doesn't, I'll sell it and try the D3. I'm man enough to admit if I make a mistake. This is not an intent to start a flame war at all. I know some members were going back and forth with the Z1, D3, and the Kenwood 7100. From reading the manual, it almost appears that the 7100 was made to compare with the Z2. The only reason I was in the situation of choosing between the D3 and the 7100 is the price difference was only $250. I'm about to install in my 05 Chrysler 300C. Here are a few pre install pics.

Isn't there a sub-forum for "other navigation systems?"

I think I did see another forum for other navigation systems but the fact that there were members that posted in this area about this particular system is the reason I posted here. Just trying to help out other members.

Here are a few pics...I'll try to get more pics later...I need to drive around a little and see how well the nav works. ipod controls are just as fast as controlling a cd in the head unit. install was very fast and of course the kenwood bypass is very simple. maps can be upgraded by sd card. interface is pretty nice....let me know of any questions you may have and i'll check for you.

I think this is the only other headunit (the other one is the single din alpine unit) that displays album art.

How fluid is the interface?

Sorry fellas but I'm out of town now...I'll be back in later this week and will be able to post more pics and i'll try the video. The interface is very fluid and fast. I'm very satisfied with the unit at this point. The D3 looks nice but at this point I don't have a reason to change.

Very nice. Coming from a 7017 Kenwood has done a great upgrade. Would love some pics of navigation.

Looks good! I just got a D3 and now seriously considering this kenwood. what is the bypass you mentioned?

With every Kenwood I've ever seen, all you have to do is ground the parking brake wire on the radio. With the old add on G510 nav module, even the lawyer disclaimer screen disappears on its own after a few seconds when the unit is bypassed. Kenwood definitely beats Pioneer in the ease of bypass category.

A shop here in Nashville just installed one, and sure enough, grounding the parking brake wire did the bypass. I saw the unit this morning, and it's pretty bad-ass.

Can someone (anyone) take a video of the interface?? I really want to see how this looks. Thanks!

I just got this unit installed in my Magnum SRT8 and will work on getting video of it today or tomorrow...

Also silkjones ...I have a question....Did you get steering wheel controls to work? If so which PAC units did you need for the 300...I know our cars (LX's) are picky, so I need to know the right unit(s) to get?

Picky isn't the word. I went thru h*ll and high water just to get the unit to function properly. After all that I didn't even think about the steering wheel controls. I don't miss it too much so may just pass on that option.

I would like to see some side shots of the face, to see how far it sticks out from the dash. It looks to be atleast 1/4". That would bother me probably.

Looks great otherwise though.

Can someone tell me how tall that unit is from the bottom of the trim plate to the top of the trim plate?

It's little things like this that make me happy...I'd LOVE to have album art displayed while my MP3's are playing...

Looks nice. Is that as big as the clock gets? Does it have any visualizations?

silkjones... thanks for the install pics.

Do you think you can post a video of the navigation screen as well as other features. Evens still images of the different navigation menus would be great. thank you!!
