Hooked up vss wire and the reverse wire. Also hooked up the Pac-swi for steering wheel control. Everything went smooth. Installed the back up cam on the car seat so I can watch my baby without turning around. It's installed with velcro so its removeable

holy resize! lol

Nice install, I think I use the same mounting kit for my D3 in my '05 altima, the Metra kit?

I put my antenna on the rear deck though.

Haha those pics are HUGE!

I see you busted out the 10.2MP camera for this project :)

It looks perfect.

How long did the install take you? I'm a complete novice and i'm unsure whether I should avoid the $300 install hit that my local shop wants.

resize the pics my fellow coocho!

this is better

Thank you, much better.

I really like the install. Good idea on using the free camera to check on your baby.

Its just too bad theres not a cover for the radio like there is for the compartment above it.

Hey. Very nice install. Where did you find the VSS wire? I have looked and looked, and I probably just overlooked it, but where and what color would be very helpful. Thanks alot.

Well, does your stock radio get louder when your speed increases??? And ,on the stock wiring harness, do you see a solid pink wire???

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 01:12 UTC#13

Yes, my stock radio does get louder when I drive faster, or have windows open. It's the SSV feature in the audio section on the factory deck. I haven't checked wires yet because my D2 won't be here til Monday, so just wanted to get the position and wire color figured out prior to opening.

Can you still help? Is it solid pink?

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 01:30 UTC#14

Speed Sense pink ac radio harness (Midline or BOSE only)

On vehicles without the 5 speed automatic transmission, can also use blue/yellow behind the instrument cluster.

99.9 percent sure that your wire is going to be on the harness. If there is a solid pink wire on there then that is it

This is a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 with automatic and factory radio, NOT BOSE. I've heard that hooking up the VSS will make the nav work better. Also, were you able to hook up the illumination wire? Is there one in the factory harness?? Thanks.

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 02:34 UTC#17

Illumination wire is on the factory harness. And for the reverse wire, I ran it back to the tail light. Real easy! Are you gonna hook up your steering wheel controls??

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 18:00 UTC#18

The reverse wire is only for the camera, right? And no, I'm not installilng a camera, so I was thinking I didn't have to hook up reverse wire.

Steering wheel controls, I hear you have to buy an adapter to make them work, which again, no, I wasn't going to do that. Is there a way to just hook them up, or do you need the adapter, becuase I would love to have them work.

I'm mainly concerned about the VSS wire, but will look for it on the harness first.

Thanks for the help.

You need an adapter to hook them up. They're about $50 on eBay. Its the PAC SWI-PS

Cool. Just bought one, should have everything by Thursday, so will be ready to install. Doing a PT test with a PD on Thursday, so pass that, gather all D2 stuff, do a bypassed install, and enjoy the weekend......let's hope it all works out that way....... *fingers crossed*

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 19:24 UTC#21

Godd luck

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 19:25 UTC#22

yup... good luck

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 22:03 UTC#23

Thanks.

Is there an order that has to be followed for doing bypass? I've heard I need to boot the D2 up first, and then power down, and then do bypass. Is that correct, or can I just perform the bypass, hook up the PAC for steering wheel controls, and power on with the unit bypassed?

Thanks for the help.

SSRECORDS....I just read on a post that to install the PAC steering wheel adapter that you need to use a IR remote?? Is this true?

Finally grabbed a few pics of the D3 in my '05 Altima SE-R, thought you guys might be interested to see the factory color integration power of the D3 (orange and red to match the SE-R's factory orange/red lighting):

Overall, the D3 isn't a bad deck at all. :)

Also, I just used a Peripheral wired steering wheel interface, super easy and works great.
