I agree, I also miss it from my Garmin days!

the z2 is the same exact hardware, updated maps, gracenote, and thats it. so whatever "bugs" you guys think that the z1 had, so does the z2. and the bypass appears to be the same. i was wrong in saying that it had changed

by pass is not the same as the z1................

yeah he is wrong quite often, which leads me to believe he doesnt work for pioneer, but is simply a distributor

dont think "he" said he works for pioneer, just 'someone' with a bit more inside track info, that may be accurate... i mean the thing is just coming out and there have been some back and forth on the bypass, so maybe holdin off till its examined would be wise

That is exactly what I have said... that we should all just wait for the units to come and stop all these rumors/confused facts, but that started a great flame war between him (T) and I

they would get sued beyond belief if they did that.

Why and from whom would they get sued?

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 15:14 UTC#32

opertunistic customers whom got into accidents or who planed out accidents

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 15:24 UTC#33

the music industry would sue them for allowing people to rip mp3s onto their hard drives.

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 17:19 UTC#34

Lowrance allows it and they have not been sued.

Posted Mar 25, 2007 · 18:04 UTC#35

maybe they aquired the license?

I apologize in advance if this may seem a dumb question, but, can't most of the bugs and other issues be worked out by firmware changes off an upgrade CD? In other words, why couldn't Pioneer just release an upgrade cd that had all the necessary firmware changes on it (at least those changes that absolutely did not require any hardware fixes like replacing IC's)?
