Just some more info to think about...I have HDD of the original Z1 and I have a HDD of the Z1 after bluetooth update. I replaced the PRG0 and the PRG1 folders in the original with those that were on the bluetooth update and the system still worked as the original(headlights still needed to be flashed to bypass). Then I replaced all of the files that were on the partition containing the PRGs, AV,BT, INITDATA etc. and the system worked without flashing the headlights but it still needed the pin grounded and the brake grounded. So the answer to the bypass (for the Z1)is in that partition and it may also be a matter of replacing those files on the Z2 HDD. I could try it but I don't have an image of the Z2. I use Acronis true image if anybody could send a Z-2 image. PM me if possible

I can send my Z2 image...but do you have a Z2 to try it on? Also, I think Titos is doing Z1 to Z2 file transfers. You can prob get the image from him too.

I was thinking that if it works in a Z-1 then I'd send it back to the Z-2 owner and wait for the response

Try to compare files in those folders between older and never images at least by file size.

I think this method would be a sure success, just sucks that we can't find a simpler bypass and people with the Z2 will all have to get their hdd unlocked. I suppose I am all for it though and maybe I will get to work on unlocking mine soon.

What are you guys using to image the HD? I have a CIS degree and would be willing to look at the images of both the Z-1 and Z-2 hard drive images.

Ok, I ordered an IDE adapter because all I have now is a USB one. I have the bluetooth update for the Z1 downloaded and I will try to use the files there to hack my Z2 as soon as I get the adapter.

i tryed to switch the files you are talking about and my z2 will not boot after i switch the files it gives you a application not availabe screen but if anyone has a working ftp site i will give you an image of my z2 drive just message me

Titos, thanks for the offer, now I am not sure where I read about someone switching from the old z1 (lights flashing) to the new z1 (2 wire) on this forum but that was pretty convincing to me. Perhaps it is only a matter of changing the mininum files required?

OK I did some more research on the Z1 original. After changing file after file it seems that changing just the PRG0 and the PRG1 folders along with the PRG.FLG that is in the SDATA folder I was able to convert to the "ground pin method". I don't know how this may help the Z2 situation but it does bring us closer to knowing about where the " target file" could be.

Also if the ground pin has been disabeled on the Z2 could it be possible to use the PRG files in the original Z1 and use the "headlight flashing method" ?

I just want to say that this seems to be the most promising path forward in discovering the way the Z1 and Z2 function as a whole. I wish I had a Z2 to play with.

The "ground pin" on the Z2 does not seem to be disabled, in the same location it reads 5v just like the Z1 did, so I am hoping to get a 2 wire bypass by switching the folders you experimented with.

Holy cow this has me all excited! Anybody else feeling this way? Can somebody hook HenryJ up with a Z2 image already!? :D I can't wait to see what happens.

Well through the process of elimination I've narrowed it down to just a few files that are responsible for the Z1 "after bluetooth" ground pin bypass. In the SDATA partition you must have the "PRG.FLG file (This comes from the SDATA partition after the bluetooth update) also in the SDATA partition there is the PRG0 and PRG1 subfolders. the PRG0 is ok as it is, but in the PRG1 folder there is a folder called "APL" I updated the original (before Bluetooth) APL folder with the files From the after Bluetooth APL folder (about 34 files) DLLS, EXEs etc. I did not use any of the sub folders. the "original Z1 now does not need the "Lights Flash" to be bypassed but of course the pin needs to be grounded. so it is narrowed down to the final 34 files. Is it possible for someone with a Z2 to slip those 34 files into the APL folder along with the PRG.FLG into the SDATA partion and see what happens? in the mean time I'll continue to try and narrow the 34 files dsown further.

:D OK I think I have the 34 files narrowed further...it is one (or more) of the 6 exe files. I'll continue as I find time but it may be just a matter of putting 1 (or more) of the exe files into the APL folder along with the PRG.FLG file into the SDATA partition.

:) I don't know what the Z2 partitions look like and if they have the same folder setup as the Z1 but if it does maybe there is a chance.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! If anybody tries to replace these files in your Z2 PLEEEEEAS make sure that you have a back up copy or you have a good image to revert to as putting these files into a folder may just delete your original!!!

Henry, you rock dude! I am on this as soon as I get my IDE adapter to hook my Z2 drive to my computer. Are the files I need included in the bluetooth update package that I downloaded from the forum? Or do I need a complete Z1 image to get all the files?

Posted Apr 28, 2007 · 15:30 UTC#20

The only files resposible for changing the bypass from "original" Z1 to the "after bluetooth" Z1 is....................."HMIManager" in the APL folder of the PRG1 folder and the "PRG.FLG" that must be placed into the SDATA partition. .....Is it possible to place these appropriatly into the Z2 for success?

I'm standing by waiting for the teams results as I don't have a Z-2 image.

To answer your question YzRacer, I don't think you can use the files from the update disc because those files seem to be smaller in file size. They may need to be expanded into the main file on in the program during the install process.

Henry, I hope to have my IDE adapter on Monday or Tuesday and I will try to get started with the unlocking and ripping my Z2 image. Perhaps if you haven't got one from somewhere else, we could trade images......perhaps then we can both have unlocked Z2's.

YzRacer,

Just to let you know, I sent a PM to you including the two files that we should try when you open your Z2 HDD. Let me know if you had recieved them.

HenryJ, at first glance it apprears the partitions and folders have the same setup on the Z2. I got my adapter today and unlocked my Z2 drive, and I am in the process of making a backup image. Any recommendation on making the best backup image? I installed Acronis and I am using it now, but it doesn't make a standard .iso file which is what I was wanting. After it's done backing up I am going to disable the drive locking and start experimenting with the files you sent. I feel confident that with any luck I will be rocking a bypassed Z2 by the end of the day. Thanks for all your research and if you PM me your address I will send you my image on DVD's tomorrow.
