whatup? just joined, i just bought an avic z1 for my 2005 mustang gt. i didnt want to deal with the z2 problems with dvd in motion etc. is this going work with my factory shaker 1000? crutchfield says the z2 works with it, and they have the harness, which i am going to buy, and the z1 is the same hardware wise as the z2 correct?

yes, just mke sure you put a 3k ohm resistor between the blue/white wires

Posted Jun 05, 2007 · 02:18 UTC#3

a resistor? what do i need it for? i was going to do the mod so the dvd works in motion. whats does the blue white wire control?

its the amp turn on for your factory system. without the resistor you will get a loud thump when you turn your unit on

yes i have heard of this. i got the harness and install kit from crutchfield, think i will still need the resistor?

Posted Jun 05, 2007 · 02:33 UTC#6

yeah, the harness doesnt come with it

as long as its 3k ohm it will work. if you are having installed anywhere, they will have them

Oh man don't buy it on ebay for 15 cents with 6 dollars shipping, radio shack will have resistors for much cheaper.

You could always buy one of DucatiBoy's amp turn on devices

the one i bought is a refurb from pioneer, so i am thinking i will need to do the 2 wire bypass, when they refurb them they update the software correct?

Posted Jun 06, 2007 · 10:37 UTC#13

Try the 2 wire bypass first, if that doesn't work, all you've lost is maybe 15 minutes of your time

Enjoy the Z1 AND the Stang!

is there any point in instaling the microphone wire? i can't use the bluetooth ever, since i have long tube headers and flowmasters on my car, so basically its just for the voice recognition, which sucks and is not really useable right?

Posted Jun 20, 2007 · 11:10 UTC#22

I've got magnaflows on a convertible (yeah, you can't use the mic when accelerating) but at cruise, even wih the top down it's "usable"... not the best, but usable.

Personally, I'd install the Mic

The one thing I did that probably makes it better than most other verts is I fully matted the car

Posted Jun 20, 2007 · 11:24 UTC#23

so the voice recog is kind of useable? im never gonna add the bluetooth speaker phone, can get you in trouble if you got a chick in the car, i just use a moto h700 headset.

Posted Jun 20, 2007 · 11:37 UTC#24

Yeah, voice-reco is basicaly usable (but I only use mine to make basic phonecalls)

Understand what you say about getting in trouble if females in the car

I'd look into getting yourself a Jawbone headset... freakin awesome

the moto h700 actually works well with the loud exhaust, it has noise cancellation, so it basically blocks it out. people tell me it is much easier to hear me with the headset on then just using the phone, when driving and getting on it.
