Just got a phone call from our rep that the Z series update disks are orderable and will ship by the end of June. He didn't have any info on whether we will actually have to generate a code off the web or anything to install it, but said he will know by the time I have it in my hands. The model # is CNDV-700HD and is $250 retail

Don't see why they wouldn't incorporate this for North American units.
Is this going to lock out the bypass?
Probably, just like the Bluetooth update disabled Ducatiboy's flasher bypass ![]()
the new rumor is it will not disable the bypass but in fact will make the Z2 bypassable, as read on this forum.

No way?! are you joking or is thatfor real?

If it turns out to be true, then thats a bunch of horse crap. After dropping x amount of dollars on a brand new z2, now i'd have to drop x amount more money on a damn disk so that I can bypass my z2?
buncha corporate crapola if you ask me.
I am sure one of the guys on here that is much more intelligent than me will figure out what part of that update actually changes the bypass and post it on here.

Thats why its all speculations and assumptions at this point.
What does this update include exactly? just maps, or will the awful ipod interface finally be fixed?
Only maps, gracenote, and the XM icons

Yeah im not going to spring for it. Still nothing on the Sirius huh? So they are updating the XM and not the crappy Sirius....Idiots
so this means we do not need to take it in the a dealer. sounds good but man 250. gotta think about that.
Nobody knows 100% what is in the update until it is released or Pioneer releases the information. The fact that the update is so many months behind makes me think that there may be more to it than simple map and gracenote updates. But TBD... TBD.

I agree, would be funny if it offered more features then the Z2.

If you the 1st post, the update is CNDV-700HD. I did see the one you mentioned but not to sure what the difference is. Might be that the one you listed is just a map update as the CNDV-700HD is to upgrade from Z1 to Z2
According to the website; this is NOT for the Z series.
yeah defnitely not
Hi All- this is my first time to this site. I am glad I found it. I purchased a Z1 in January 07. As soon as I got it installed, I realized that nothing is in the maps...my home address wasn't even in there, which leads me to believe that the map is over 6 years old. I have been in my house 7 yrs this September! As you all know, the Z1 is not cheap. I spent $3k on the navigation system, acessories, and installation. Well, I have been in constant contact with Pioneer about this and they kept telling me to check back Spring time for an upgrade. Well, I just found out about this upgrade. Let me tell you...Pioneer is NOT easy to deal with. I wanted to speak with a manager today about this issue to see if they would help out with the cost of this $250 upgrade, when I already spent over $3000 on this unit. Basically, the customer service rep refused to forward me to a manager and then hung up on me!! whatever! ![]()
Has anyone else had issues with the maps? I can't tell you the number of times I have gotten lost trying to use my $3000 GPS... and I live in Northern Virginia which is a huge metro area! I am willing to buy this upgrade, but only if it is worth it!! Anyone else have success with their upgrade from Z1 to Z2? Any negatives you wish to share?
do you live in an area thats new? I've had no issue except once trying to find a place. that was only cuz that area was new. also check to see if the GPS works fine 'does it know the location of where u are driving?'
did you or the shop do the calibration?
you do realize that this link and product number is for Europe not the US....

Might get lost with those maps ![]()
I ordered a z2 last night and just read this post. According to my retailer pioneer will send me the update for free since I just bought the unit.
