Just wanted to log in and say I'm happy to find you . I'm a former Treo user and in anticipating the iPhone have been shopping for a system to sync in my GMC Truck . I would love to have a Mac-Mini but it seemed a little over my head . So I opted for a AVIC-D3 with the CD-BTB200 bluetooth adapter ,

the CD-i200 ipod interface , and a CD-UB100 USB adapter , I just now finally have it installed and am a lucky owner of an iPhone . Unfortunately I'm unable to offer any insights that haven't been covered . Obviously this iPhone hasn't been around much !! When I find a Jewel I'll share ..Good luck

Byron, first...welcome!

Now, do you really still need the CD-UB100 USB adapter after getting your iphone?

I had one, and hated the interface, so back to Crutchfield it went...

Just trying to save you some $$ if it's not too late that is...if you are happy with the USB adapter, by all means, enjoy it! Maybe you are using it for something other than music?

One thing I have noticed is that accessing songs from the iPhone on my D3 is quite a bit faster/quicker versus when I was using the video iPod...maybe I'm crazy though...but it definitely seems faster now when I go from track to track...

Thanks Blizzard . I just bought the usb to cover all possible inroads I love the idea of playing off an SD also using the d3 as a monitor for a mini ,or just to up my chances of iphone or treo sync . But it's just a blind stab as I'm quite new to this stuff .I haven't managed to read an SD yet , You think the USB is over kill ?

I never had an iPod . Kept holding out for a full screen . Playing music with the iPhone/ D3 is very smooth ! I would guess it is the best iPod yet except for the video glitch . Greetings !

Posted Jul 07, 2007 · 02:29 UTC#29

There is no video "glitch". Apple purposely designed it not to display video other then from the screen.

Posted Jul 07, 2007 · 03:21 UTC#30

Hope Your Wrong . I'm thinking as soon as apple establishes the iPhone as a dependable . stable success story it's going to have to open her up . So far I've really sacrificed a lot of tricks giving up my treo for this little darling .

For some strange reason, Apple didnt enable video output through the 30-pin connector. Even the video home docks don't work. No idea why they would do something that boneheaded - why have video with no way to play it back outside the iPhone?

Because then the phone would compete with ipod sales.

I doubt sales of ipods would be affected. It's a difference of at least $400 between them. If you are buying an iPhone, even if the compatibility issues were fixed, you wouldn't likely be buying it for the iPod feature. There's just not that much storage on the iPhone to eliminate having at least a secondary and backup iPod at this point. Not if you have a decent music collection.

I wasn't referring to the current line of ipods. The new ipod will be announced probably by christmas and it will be an advanced ipod added to the line of current ipods. It will probably come in at a price point of about 450.00 dollars and most likely have full BT audio control and video display options that the iphone purposely lacks for this reason.

I never turm the BT off on the iPhone turn the radio on and bam connected to recieve calls, freakin sweet! Just pick ur serious six(play on tmobiles fav 5) and use the phone to dial others. I like the way i can have the iPhone playing music one minute then taking phone calls the next, then bam back to the music!

Howdy...

I have the iPhone and the AVIC-D3...

It pairs fine and connects well with the 'direct' connect feature, but how do I get it to autoconnect without going through the 'direct' menu?

It seems like others can get this to work. Can you please enlighten?

Thanks..

Best,

Ben

Register the phone to the D3.

Posted Jul 10, 2007 · 23:11 UTC#35

Howdy...

If you mean 'register' it from the AVIC end, I've already done that. That's how I can use the direct connect feature.

It's still not autoconnecting. Any ideas?

Ben

Have you turned autoconnect on in the D3 menu?

Posted Jul 10, 2007 · 23:42 UTC#37

I have, yes.

Previously, this worked with my MOTO Q, but I can't get it to autoconnect wiht the iPhone..

Any thoughts?

Best,

Ben

Ben,

Mine works perfectly with my D3 and BTB200. It sounds like you did everthing I did. You don't have a BTB100 by any chance? They are not quite as agile.

I'm sure it's the 200. I'll double check..

Best,

Ben

So. I was in amazement yesterday when i saw a 2007 Mercedes S550 with its fancy navigation bluetooth nonsense pull my contact info right from my iPhone. Just connected the iPhone over bluetooth put in the pass-code. On the mercedes you push "phone address book". It says reading device and 5 seconds later BOOM, its all there. Why cant any of the AVIC's do this please tell. The iPhone doesn't have OPP so how is this possible?

Is there a way to load address book with the cd ?

I am wondering the same thing... in the manual they talk about loading the address book from another pioneer.

I have scanned the web for a bit and found nothing yet... anyone know the format the pioneer is looking for as it can't be that hard to export my outlook into a .csv file or something and have the d3 upload it.

Posted Oct 09, 2007 · 23:13 UTC#43

It has been tried several times including by myself and it doesn't work. It wont be possible to upload your address book until Apple includes OBJECT PUSH PROFILE or Pio updates the BTB200 to include OBJECT PULL PROFILE.

Has anyone found a way to get the address book on there? Either from a CD or my Laptop? I know the iPhone transfer is out of the question for now

Thanks

Dont bet on it unless it comes via apple update or jailbreak software. I assume the phonebook is linked to the registered phone. you wouldnt be able to trick the deck because the bluetooth id will be dif.

I had this brilliant idea that I could just load the phone book with my treo It seemed to download numbers , but is there a way to use treo numbers with my iPhone ? Seems like no . ?

Posted Nov 12, 2007 · 12:19 UTC#48

I just got an iPhone and thought I would keep mu numbers from my A1200 in the D3 and use the iPhone, but the phonebook is linked with the phone you register. When I put my iPhone as my main registered phone, I lost my entire phonebook but did figure out the SET option. Not really a big deal to me until they come up with an update.

I was thinking the same thing, (to use another phone to push its phonebook) and get the iPhone to access that phonebook, but I'm guessing that the phonebook is locked to an individual phone id. I guess it kinda makes sense, and is kinda dumb.

There is definitely scenario's where you might want to access another registered phonebook. Like your work phone and your iPhone, and you don't have your work phone on you, but need to call a client in your work phones phone book.

So is it confirmed you can't do it that way?
