If you guys are about to change your boot up screen or make backgrounds for the Z1, I just found this link:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=56160

Pages and pages of good looking logos

Personally I want to change my boot up screen to this:

Thanks. I know they are not in the exact format for use in the Avic units, but they are great looking logos to use as starting points for boot screens or backgrounds. I plan on making this one into a nice boot screen and replacing my hard drive. I think it would look great.

Maybe something like one of these (the above PNG has transparent layers behind it so you would need to fill your background with something).

If anyone finds a PNG file from that link they would like into a background or a boot screen (if you get that far with the hdd hacking) I would be more than welcome to merge them. I did a google image search for the background for this example "burl wood" and found this in one of the links. I'm not good at making pictures from scratch, but I can merge pics that are already created.

By the way, this is my current background and as soon as I get time to rip out the hard drive, I plan on making this my boot screen.

I made this one for myself. Feel free to use it if anyone else has a Nissan. I think I'll make a Z one too. I like the Z logo better than the Hamburger.

I've included a zipped bmp (the native format) so you can have the full file along with a jpeg so you can see what it looks like.

While that does have images of all the brands, sometimes the quality of the pictures are poor and the images are a little small.

This was one of the acura logos:

This is the one from the car computer logo page:

The guys doing the car computers have really nice logos, I don't know where they get them.

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=56160

And they almost always have transparrent backgrounds for easy cut and paste on to any background you want to use.

I never had a problem with my jpg files, the manual says:

JPEG file is corrupt.
The data is damaged or an attempt was made to set a JPEG image, that is out of specifications, as the background picture.
Try:
Use the appropriate data after reading “Limitations for import the picture” on page 97.

Page 97 of the manual says:
Limitations for import the picture
* You cannot use a CD-R (-RW) containing MP3 files or the Audio data part (CD-DA part) for importing pictures.

* When storing pictures on a CD-R (-RW), create a folder named "Pictures” in the CD-R (- RW), and store the picture files in this folder. (Up to 200 picture files can be used in total including pictures are already stored in the hard disk drive and pictures in the CD-R (- RW).)

* When you burn a CD-R (-RW), limit the number of folder hierarchy levels to eight.

* You can only use single-session format for importing pictures.

* Only JPEG format (“.jpg” or “.JPG”) pictures can be used. Progressive format JPEG pictures cannot be used.

* You can only use standard characters (alphabets of both cases: A-Z, a-z) and numbers (0-9) for the file name (international (accented)
characters cannot be used).

* Pictures up to a maximum of 2 592 x 1 944 pixels can be used. We cannot guarantee proper operation for a picture bigger than this size. When you burn a CD-R (-RW), make sure the total data size of the CD-R (-RW) is greater than 100MB by storing dummy data or the like. If not, the disc may not be recognized with the built-in DVD drive.

Also you can't burn the disk with windows. I always recommend Nero. Set it for ISO 9660 format. Try that.

Sometimes the Photoshop images didn't work for me. I opened them in paint and just resaved the file and they worked fine. I still used jpg format for them.

Every time I have burned a CD it worked. And I followed the above instructions.

How about posting what you have done? Burning tool, cd format, Joliet? ISO 9660? 8.3 file, extended file name length? What made the JPG, file list maybe an example of the jpg you have put in there.

Either you don't have the jpg created correctly or the name is invalid or there is something with the burn.

sorry ducatyboy....

In photoshop I used the "save for web" feature. And then I maximize the quality. No one has seemed to have a problem with any of the images I have made. If you think it might be a jpg picture problem, try one of the ones I made (or take my photoshop PSD file)

http://www.sminntech.com/z1backgrounds/

And in nero did you select ISO 9660 only and Data Mode 1?
