ok guys.. I need to see if I can get a image of both the Z1 and Z2 software from some body and download it or FTP it to me. I have a guy that does a lot of programming for me and I asked him if he could look a the changes and see what would be stopping the bypass from working and it may be we need to just move a Z1 file over to the Z2 image and test it.... he is really good with this stuff and its free..... let me know if anyone can help out here... thanks
Software Hack for the Z2
Not that I want to put a crimp in your plans or the generous donation of your friend. But with the new update disk which has been rumored to be coming out which will update a Z2 into a bypassable Z2, wouldn't it be worth seeing if this is really true before spending time to hack the old Z2's? I know people have been talking about that disk for months, but it looks like they are just starting to ship them. Just a thought.
Not to put a crimp in your statement, but if the bypass does work, it is because it will have the same software as the Z1 original. So if we work on the Z2 from the Z1 we will be ahead of the game incase the New Z2 is a farce etc... Clear as mudd!
I hear ya... and thats cool... my disk shipped today and I should have it Friday... I will install over the weekend and try the ground bypass or anything you want to try.. but my conversation with the guy that sold me the disk said this. 'We do not have information on by-passing the safety and legal features of this unit. We do not offer this or would make it available". I asked if it could be done he said not that he knew of. He said it use to be a hardware bypass and now its software... so we will see...
How do I get the software disk to update my Z2?
Call this number 1866-214-1310
its Pioneer Direct Sales
Did you have to pay $250 for that update disk? Is there a licence agreement with that disc or can it be shared freely?
All I know is you have registered your Z1 to get it. I did and they will see you in the sytem. I asked about a code key and he did not know what I was talking about. Told me to make sure I have power for at least 1 hour so start the car and let it run or let it run the battery... yes it cost $250 nothing is free my man...
I just called and they want $250 to buy the CD - I don't know if it's licensed or anything, lets hope we can get an image floating around cuz that is alot of money
Wow $250, what a ripoff
If there is no licence agreement (preventing the duplication and copying) then someone can use winiso or winimage to make an iso and we can all just download and burn a copy..........
I suspect that there is a agreement which would make the act of copying and distributing illegal.
It will surely be illegal but that never stopped people from posting the CNDV40, 50, and 60 on various torrent sites

I can say this.. I did not pay 250.00 to give it away... But I want the map updates thats all I want. I dont really care about the bypass either.. but I offered to get someone who knows programming to look at the images and see what could be done...

You will be happy to know that the DVD that you have coming will solve your bypass. How did you get it for $0.00???
what do you mean will solve my bypass problems? I paid that was just a invoice showing I owe nothing... does this allow the bypass or stop the bypass... I was told it would stop all bypasses and that it was all software controlled bypass...
The product code CNDV-700HD says it is for the Z1.
From the pioneer site:
Upgrade for Pioneer HDD Navigation System(AVIC-Z1)
Will it work on the Z2?
I would call them and ask...
Just got off the phone with Pioneer from ordering the new map update. Boy, the right hand there has no clue what the left hand is doing. First girl had no clue about where or not this map update would also update the changes made in the Z2. She thought it was maps only and had not heard of any other possible update. Had her transfer me to Customer Service and that individual did not know anything either. I also wanted the fix disk for the bluetooth issue. He couldn't tell me if it was included in the map update or not, so he sent me to Parts. She told me that the maps update was just that - just maps. She's sending me the fix disk. She told me that there will be another upgrade out that will upgrade the z1 to a z2, but it will not be available through Pioneer directly. you will need to get it through a Pioneer dealer and they will need to install it for you (same as we had heard earlier). She didn't know when that would be available, I would have to check with my dealer.
Funny this guy "sparqui" has already installed it and it did both maps and updates, and my version coming tomorrow shows as upgrade.... hmmm...
I think you did not get anyone who knew what they were talking about...
I have been getting the same from Pioneer.
When I asked:
"Is there an update disk available for the Z2. If so what is the part number? and how much does it cost?"
They Responded with:
"Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
We don't have anything available for the Z2 at this moment.
Thank You,
Ramon
Customer Service Representative"
That probably is correct - there isn't an update for the Z2 at this time, but the upgrade is for the Z1.
