It is my understanding that the password is only needed when updating a Z1 to a Z2. The upgrade process of a Z2 to Z2(bypassed) does not require a password and therefore does not require you to enter the media id number and serial number of your unit.

That being said, Sparqui if you updated your Z2 to Z2(bypassed) with this DVD, I would be willing to purchase the DVD and supplied media card from you as long as you can verify that the media has not been registered.

At a discount of course.

A disc image will not work in my case(Z1-Z2 upgrade) and I would bet there would be great legal issues if Pioneer caught wind of an image on the net.

PM me if you are willing to part with the DVD and media card / media number.

Steve

You are in fact correct with your statements. The disc is advertised as an upgrade disc for the AVIC-Z1. It was only the great leap that I purchased it and was able to get it to work as a bypass (on a Z2 rather than a Z1). I made a backup of the hard drive in case I really screwed it up (which I truly thought might happen). As it turned out, it worked and I am very happy about enabling the unit the way it should be. I can certainly justify spending the money on the Upgrade Disc to give myself the features that I had access to on my old AVIC-D1. I cannot guarantee that this will work for anyone else, but it worked for me. I reacted exactly like the -D1 bypass functionality, so I am relatively certain that this is the bypass that everyone is looking for.

Not sure if I want any legal battles with distribution/sales, so sorry to have to decline your offer... :(

This is all speculation up till this point.

We need more people to test out the new Disc.

So then this sounds awesome, but I have a couple questions.

1. Was this update DVD made for?

a. To convert the Z1 to a Z2?

b. To update maps and firmware on the Z1?

c. To update maps and firmware on the Z2?

2. What will this firmware do to our Z2?

a. Make it bypassable like the Z1?

b. Convert the Z2 back to a Z1?

c. Remove any features, functionality, speed, usability, etc...?

Basically I know the Pros for this update (bypassable), but what Cons are we looking at?

Nice find on this btw guys, really exciting stuff!

this place says they have it for download but i didnt try it , looks like they want 25 dollars to sign up .

MOD EDIT: Link Removed.

OK, I just got a hold of that disk. But haven't tried it yet. From what I

understand if you stick it in to a Z2, it will take 10 minutes and make it

bypassable and nothing else changes. If you stick it into a Z1, it will take

hours and make it into a bypassable Z1. But I don't have a Z2 to test this

myself. :) I wanted to backup my Z1 before updating my personal one.

The file sizes there don't match the disk I have. I don't know what that is.

If this is "shared" what location would be a "safe" way to share it? Or who has 7 gigs of online space who doesn't care if pionneer know that you are posting it? I was thinking news groups but who here knows how to go get 7 gigs off a news group?

Hey Ducatiboy man please lets us know if this disc really work on Z2 if and when you get a chance thanks

Posted Jul 19, 2007 · 12:25 UTC#35

I don't have a Z2 so I can't tell you. But I know there are some Z2 owners who will be getting this disk soon so I'm hoping they will try it and post information that it works.

We'll figure out how to dump it on a torrent site if this is legit.

If Im understanding this correctly, will this work on an upgraded z1? My bypass stopped working when I upgraded. (flashers upgrade) I hope so.

Upgraded what to what?

1st Gen Z1 - > Bluetooth Updated Z1?

Either Z1 -> 1st Gen Z2?

If you're asking if this disc will allow a unit to bypass by flashing the lights, I'm gonna say 'no', even though I have no direct evidence of that.

Has anyone tested the www.fullrelease.com site for the Z1 upgrade on a Z2 for the bypass???

Posted Jul 19, 2007 · 15:00 UTC#41

WOULD EVERYONE READ THE PREVIOUS POSTED IN THIS LINK, MOST OF YOU QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY. TWO GUYS ALREADY TESTED THE Z1 UPGRADE ON A Z2 AND THE BYPASS WORKED.

All the "pay" full version sites are scams... Stay away with extreme prejudice and NEVER use your CC...

Posted Jul 19, 2007 · 15:13 UTC#43

I have an account with this site (for other reasons) and checked - they don't seem to have the disk in their servers even though they say they have. Don't bother signing up with them for the update disk alone. You'll be wasting your money.

MOD EDIT: if you do [ and then url= and put the link in there and ] and type http://www.fullreleases.com/NewMembers... and then put [ and /url] it will not make the screen that wide. Link is still there, but it's not all displayed.

I know it wont work I upgraded from z1 to z2 and the bypass for z1 doesn't work anymore.

Everyone knows the flashers bypass won't work anymore because it puts the bluetooth update on the Z1.

After you use the Z1 to Z2 upgrade does the 2 wire bypass still work?

That is the only question still left unanswered.
