I had my unit professionally installed. If my Parking Brake Wire (Light Green Wire) is attached to another wire, does that mean that it is grounded? Everytime that i turn on my unit it comes up with the warning message talking about my parking brake. Does this mean that it is grounded? If not, what wire can i connect it to in order to ground it?

Ground it..... doesn't matter how...

But to give you a hinter... you can just use a quick splice and tap it into the head unit's ground....i.e... the black wire

As of right now, the parking brake wire is spliced to the head units (black wire) ground wire along with the bluetooth ground wire. What could be the problem?

You need to ground the other wire as described in this forum...... hence...the "two wire bypass"

Okay.. So i did exactly what the directions said in the two wire bypass method. However, there is no change...

What could be the problem....i checked wire 1 & 2 many times and they are situated properly.

What firmware do you have? If you have a very early firmware...then you will need to download the "hacked" firmware update....

The super early Z1 firmware needed the "hacked" firmware....

Otherwise... check your grounding...

My unit is an AVIC Z2 not Z1

Make sure you have the latest Z2 update. The first Z2's were unbypassable.

If I'm understanding this correctly, I should be able to do this 2 wire bypass on my Z2 without any firmware updating as long as it's not the earlier version right?

My CD/DVD reader doesn't work so I have no way of hacking firmware. How do I tell which firmware is on it or how can I tell this 2 wire bypass will work for my unit? I'm getting ready to pull it back out of the dash in an hour or so to do some other work to it. Figured I'd look into this bypass info as well.

Yes it should work if you have a late model Z2, or if the previous owner did the update. You have nothing to lose by trying. I can also upgrade your firmware for you, see the classified section.

If z3, you don't need this file.

All the links for the files on Megaupload have been removed. Does anyone know anywhere else to get these files? A link would be great if one is available...;)

You don't need the file.  Just do the wiring bypass.

wire bypass does not work if i drive over 15 mph it kicks the video off after the warning screen that says something like "the system has detected an improper connection...etc-etc" and only sound comes on... =(

I have avic z2...

First thing I would do is update your software to the newest maps/firmware and double/triple check your bypass wiring.

Posted Mar 09, 2013 · 19:26 UTC#947

ok could you link me the website that i can dl from to update the firmware/maps?

Check the hacks section in the forum or you can purchase from pioneer. It's not a free update.

Hi I am trying to do a bypass on my Avic Z-2 simply to watch DVD's in the car while driving. I'm having trouble understanding all that's necessary to do to update it because it's manufacture date is January 07. And I know I cant do the bypass without the software update. So If you know of anything that could help I would greatly appreciate it! I'm at a loss what to do because I dont know how to finalize a CD-R in single session or in mode-1 (as Pioneer mentions to do for the update) so that the Z-2 will recognize it. Also I do not have the connector 2 harness. Is that harness necessary for the 2-wire bypass or can I do it without it? Thank you!

This is not a CD authoring forum. Google is your friend.

Yes.
