I ran into an issue about 1 month ago, after my Z1 worked fine with my Ipod for a year. Once I plug in the ipod, the Z1 recognizes that it is connected, however it cannot browse the ipod, or control it. If I click the search button, it will respond "search failed". Also, if I disconnect the ipod, and set it to play a song or playlist, it will play fine, when I connect it to the Z1, however I must control it through the ipod. Once the Pioneer takes over, and the Check mark appears, I no longer have any control over the ipod, and the Z1 cannot control it. I feel like this started right after applying the latest Apple Update to the Ipod. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks.

You could try the Ipod by-pass so that you can use the controls on the face of the Ipod while it is connected to the AVIC. The link below will show you how.
