My truck knows the direction ie NW or SE. But my pioneer loses me constantly, is it a map update needed or is it just a bad unit? I dont know what the deal is.
8000NEX losing me on map
Firmware is up to date the maps i havent checked. Did the FW myself as it came with 1.03 or 1.3 on it when purchased
the latest is the 1.08, I had update to use the Maestro RR in my 2011 F150 supercrew, Mine has no problem with keeping track of me on the map, also I have the Speed input wire hooked up, I did noticed that the Navigation firmware number did change with the update of 1.08, I would try to update first.
What do u mean keeps losing u?
Are u losing gps signal or is ur icon driving off ur screen?
On the highway I drive daily and the side streets to say my pregnant fiancé doctor the icon shifts all over the place except for the actual road I am on, sometimes it can not be where I am for 15 minutes... Quite ridiculous esp since I travel for work and usually to new places where the navigation comes in real handy, I'm thinking I just need to relocate the gps module from inside the dsh to some place exposed near the windshield.
Moved it to the windshield and still loses me on my daily commute, quite irritating...
I just ran across this question and, while I have no definite answer (or an 8000 NEX), could it be that your VSS wire isn't connected?
on the satellite status screen, are you receiving sufficient satellites ( 3, preferably more) ?
On some cars with uv/heat blocking glass the glass has a thin metal covering, this glass also blocks gps signals.... As a test you could move the antenna outside, top facing upwards
Gotta be a bad antenna
Check you GPS status and make sure you have at LEAST 3 sats, the more the better.
Also, if you GPS is in the car, make sure you have it mounted on a sheet of metal, the metal needs to be larger than the size of the GPS antenna. Even better, if you can ground that plate.
I'll check sat numbers when I get in truck, but it's def not mounted on metal, my truck came with sync and that thing never lost me, I'll move it to the roof and see if that helps. Is maestro rr a Must? Wondering if it's a bad headunit.. Ipod doesn't always load up when trick is shut off then turned back on while using the ipod.... And laggy when switching songs...and still can't update my maps
And by losing me I mean driving down the highway or any road for that matter and constantly showing the icon on the wrong road and adjusting my directions. For being on that false road.
Ok so took a ride today, every time the icon shifted off of my road i checked the satellites, never had less then 9...so i just don't understand why with that many sats that it cant keep me on my route without a Dozen rerouting alerts!!
My 5000 NEX is doing the same thing. I will be going north on interstate and it will say I'm going South. Or just trying to drive off road. It jumps all over the place. I tried the antenna inside and out. All connections are right. My antenna strenght is good and satelites is good. A couple of times it did it at night and it was cloudy and windy. I attempted to email Pioneer about it and they never got back to me.
Exactly what mins does, weird because my trucks compass never messes up.. 1400 for something that can't do what it's supposed to do..
did you reset/default the unit and try it again
Yes still no go
I have a NEX 8000 in my Subaru outback and I mounted a kia shark fin antenna to the roof connected to the head unit with an adapter & it works great.
Just wondering, why does the stock antenna need to be mounted to a sheet of metal larger than the antenna? I'm asking as I have a similar problem with my avic z150bh in my 2nd car. Sometimes the GPS cursor floats way off the road. I have the stock antenna under the dash close to the windshield sitting on a piece of plastic. Do you think it would work better if I have a piece of sheet metal under it?
Ive reset it and nothing, once i go over 45 or 50 mph it loses me and this is trying to get my pregnant fiance to and from doctor apts and a new hospital. Guess im gonna have to talk to pioneer which is what ive been trying to avoid.. we all know how that goes.... send in unit wait forever... since i still can't update maps
Got a pop up today that the receiver has occurred an error contact pioneer, guess I have no choice now...
I got a reply back from Pioneer after I sent them an email. The guy said it sounds like a faulty unit. He said to try and return it where I bought it. The store only has 30 day return. Looks like I will be sending it to Pioneer. You have to ship it to the factory. I sent my AVIC f700bt to them before and they actually repaired it and got it back to me pretty fast. bummer though.. I like the stereo but this Navigation problem is disappointing. I'm going to call them on Monday. I will post what happens.
Called Pioneer. Told them what was going on. Told them Antenna signal was good , plenty of satellites, all wiring was correct. They asked if I reset it and I told them yes. Long story short, my unit is on its way to pioneer for repair. They told me everything I tried and its still doing it, than the unit is defective. Bummer!!! I guess that's what warranties are for. Hopefully its not gone to long.
I too am getting this. The arrow indicating my position will jump all over the place, when I am on a route to a set destination. It'll say it's recalculating a new route. When I was on the highway it kept showing that I was going North on the highway when I was clearly headed south.... I had a x940bt never had this happened to me before... should I send this unit back? I have the 5000nex bought about a week ago, it is soo much smoother than the x940bt.... Firmware 1.08 .
This does not happen if you don't have a route set. That being said, for the people who are saying they aren't having this issue, I have a couple questions:
Are you just on the map or did you actually set a destination/route?
What map version are you currently on?
No Issue
latest map here Q4 2013
either route or just on map
ant mounted within car on dash driver side near tweeter using the small square of metal sticker
2004 RSX
no probs
same here I have had 2 refurbed 8000nex and they both never had the jumping around on the map problem,I sold the first one to go to the kenwood DNN992 that was a mistake, I bought another 8000nex, I have my antenna in on the center of the dash, they both were updated with latest firmware. also I have 2011 f150 supercrew 4x4
