Someone want to be a trooper and try to install firmware on the "old" Nex units???
I just cant accept that one of the most popular phones doesn't work - S5
For the microphone issue, Im thinking it could be a setting issue or default application issue, ive been trying everything.
When I press the voice button on steering wheel while in Android Auto, the symbol comes up but its grayed out
When I am in the phone options, the same phone button works fine
I also see that its using "Car Mode" in conjunction with android auto automatically.
With some many new features in this phone could there be a conflict? I read there is an issue with car mode and the new "interruptions" feature
I have even restored phone to factory, reset radio, deleted everything after the firmware update.
Pioneer of America swears that they have someone who has a working S5 on Verizon.they are supposed to get back to me, if they have a solution I'll post it when I get it.
I've also been back n forth with Pioneer tech, The issue is related only to S5 on Verizon,
I was told they are now waiting on an answer from Google for the solution.
Not sure if you guys are still having issues. I got my Nexus 5 working without a single hiccup. However, the Note 4 has been more of a challenge.
At first, my Note 4 was running a custom firmware from AOSP of Android 5.0.2 and when connected to Android Auto, the blue "Accept" graphic was overlapping the rest of the text. I couldn't get it to pass that part of the menu. I then flashed an ATT Lollipop firmware onto my Tmobile Note 4 and was able to get past the accept page. Everything seemed to work fine other than the microphone issue that some are reporting. To alleviate, I installed the Google Now app from the PlayStore. Now the voice icon works in conjunction with Maps, but I'm still having issues with replying to messages by voice.
Got my 8100 installed yesterday.
Downloaded Android Auto when I picked up truck. Works fine. HTC One(M7)
Does anyone here have a Galaxy S5? Do you need Firmware 1.03 to use this phone on a 4100NEX?

I have the Verizon S5 with the new firmware "BOC4" and 8100NEX and it still doesn't work.
The pioneer firmware 1.03 had no affect on the Samsung S5 voice issue on AV4100NEX, didn't work before, doesn't work after
Android Auto will connect and work, but you have no voice control.
.
I ended up using my upgrade, G3 to Nexus 6, which is running 5.0, Auto is running with no issues. I very much hope the 5.1 update helps the other phones.
yeah I just installed my 4100nex today and everything works on android auto for me and I`m using a moto g with 5.0.1, reads texts and voice searches and everything ![]()
My note 4 on Verizon will not pick up. It's on 5.0.1
Got both mine and my wife's installed, 4100... Android Auto works great so far with my phone, AT&T Note 4... Can't test my wife's as she still hasn't gotten an update to Lollipop yet....
well i wish the galaxy 5 would work with voice i think it needs the lollipop 5.0.1
Does anyone know if you MUST have the parking brake wire from the headunit connected to the actual parking break?
I keep getting the message on my AT&T Galaxy S4 that the car must be in park. Is there any way around this? I have my headunit connected to ground and software bypassed right now.
well My moto g works perfect on my 4100nex, but i just got my galaxy S6 edge yesterday and doesn`t work, gives me meassage on the pioneer Android auto cannot connect at this time ![]()

I just saw at the bottom of Google's support site (https://support.google.com/androidauto/) that the Verizon S5 is currently incompatible (as is the LG G3). Wonderful.
Well, at least, it does not appear to be Pioneer's issue. But Verizon/Samsung doing something different than the rest of Android.

Are you on an AVIC unit (6100NEX, 7100NEX, 8100NEX)? Only those units I believe can use the grounding bypass.

I'm using the AVIC-8100NEX. So I connected it to GND. But turned on the software bypass.
However it still says that it needs the parking brake/car needs to be in park for it to setup.
I think I'm just gonna try cutting the wire from the harness and splice/tap it to the parking brake wire this weekend.
Just trying to avoid it if possible since i gotta pull all the armrest panels out and such.
Okay I got android auto to work......I opened up and looked at my wiring and realized that I actually did not ground my parking brake wire....
After I did it worked just fine with no warnings.....however it seems like I'm running into the issue that mostly everyone else is running into....I can't get voice controls to work at all.
my galaxy 5 was workin half way no voice.i had to do hard reset on phone now it wont come up at all on pioneer nex 4100 any ideas
It won't detect your phone at all? or you see it boot and then crash? You might just try uninstalling auto and reinstalling it...maybe something got corrupt when you did the hard reset
when you plug your phone in it shows the android auto app for 2 second then goes off i delete the app and install no luck i also check my usb setting it charges the phone just no android auto any ideas i can try
Mine worked for a minute then froze. Now it doesn't recognize the phone other than a usb connection. Sprint note 3 nex4100.
