New to the forum but yeah I have the F88 and happy to help you out. Not familiar with the process just yet for grabbing the images (only had the HU a couple of days) but I'm and IT consultant and pretty experienced Android modder so sure I'll get up to speed pretty quickly.

I have tried the image of an 8200NEX but there are to many things that does not work, so we need the backup image of the F88DAB.

can anyone say what the differences between the F80/F88 and last years F70/F77?

and can an F70 (which I have) be firmware upgraded to an F80?

The F77 and F88 has HDMI.

Yes you can upgrade firmware to F80 but then Mirrorlink ist gone.

I have tried with the F88/8200NEX Firmware on my F70. Very cool because the nagscreen disappears after 7 seconds.

I am from Germany and I will upgrade my current Kenwood HU (shame on me) to an AVIC-F80DAB unit soon. I am not sure if a new model within this series will be released soon. The head unit is the right one because of Android Auto and DAB (very common and very good reception in Germany and Europe). I was looking for a DAB-HU from Pioneer without navigation but DAB and Android Auto. Unfortunately such a combination is not available yet. Clarifications are appreciated if I am wrong here.

Can the AVIC-F80DAB be upgraded with another firmware not meant for this model as well?
