I have seen some software that used the file timestamp as a version number. In fact it might of been on some Pioneer upgrades. So it could indeed be an issue - except that nezfotnemom said he used the copied SD to upgrade his other AVIC.
I'm guessing nezfotnemom installed the file before compressing them. Again, I haven't had a chance to do any analysis of the files but noticed the timestamps changed for the folders when the files were uncompressed.

Awesome, did it actually take 45 mins? Also stupid question but did you just leave the car in accessory mode to update or had it running the whole time?
I think my car shuts off after a while if I leave it in accessory mode.

I was moving files last night and got like 10 I/O errors, then my USB ports stopped working.. so when I did this upload/zip I moved it to my laptop and then uploaded..
wondering if some files got corrupted on the first go around!
That would explain why it worked (from the sd card) but not once I uploaded (copied through my borked usb)

Download.. extract the zip file (if windows, right click --> extract all).. then copy those to the ROOT of an 8GB microsd card
Instructions:
Step 1: Format an 8gb SD card to FAT32. Google it.
Step 2: Download the file, and extract using winrar.
Step 3: Transfer the files you extracted to the SD card.
Step 4: Turn your car on, and insert the SD card into your AVIC head unit.
Step 5: DO NOT TURN YOUR CAR OFF, until the update is complete.
Step 6: The update will take approximately 45 minutes.
Step 7: Once update is complete, paypal a donation.

Yes you put the files on the MicroSD, make sure its formatted in fat32 (right click on the drive, format), then transfer files and plug it into the avic

hey it wont let me pm you so.. any idea on this? Having an issue with my buddies z110. He did the 2015 maps update from the other thread and ever since, getting this error.. he doesnt even have a tuner installed.. Do you know how to force the upgrade with test mode? Getting this error
