GEX-P7000TV

Ok, so I pulled the trigger on the GEX-P7000TV with the intentions of using it with the AV Input on the Z2. I was planning on it to be the solution I needed with the additional inputs for the PS2 and Ipod Video.

I was stoked to see that you can use the remote to switch the inputs. However, I searched around and did not realize I need an additional eye and controller. Can someone tell me if this is all I need?

As an alternative, can I hook up the IP Bus cable, use the remote to choose the source/tv station and then switch over to the AV Input?

Sounds confusing, I know.

I know it can be modified per this post, but using the remote and and the AV Input would be fine for me.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: OK, I just found out that is the remote control, not the eye. Does anyone know where I can get an eye for this tuner?

If you get desperate, here's a site with a schematic to make your own IR sensor:

That schematic is actually a little over-complicated since you wouldn't need the LM1881N chip nor the resistors and capacitors attached to it. Basically you'd just need 2 parts, the IR detector and voltage regulator. It's something you'd have to build and probably cut/splice an RGB cable to connect it, so it's like I said... if you get desperate!

Although... you might have to build it because I seem to recall the IR sensor was built into the monitor.

If you hook up the IP-Bus cable, I don't think you can change the source of the 7000TV with the Z2's touchscreen controls. I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing that option. The AV-Bus connection on the HU has an IR remote output you can possibly use on the 7000TV: REMOUT pin 10. That should allow the remote to work, but it might only work in Standalone mode (no IP-Bus control).
