I just bought a new 80gb toshiba and have restored the Z2 image on to the drive and I then connected it to the AVIC. Everything works however, I forgot to increase the partition for the music library. So stupid me, I took it out and now it is LOCKED and my PC won't recognize this drive anymore. I know I should have disabled the lock at the beginning but I forgot.

Now what can I do in my situation? I have searched around but didn't find anything that can help me. I've also tried those magic boot disk..etc. but sitll no go.

Thanks for the reply however, how will it unlock my drive when the computer won't even recognize it?

2nd note, what can I use to set it to always be unlocked after that?

Last but not least, what did you use to increase the partition size "after" you restore the Z2 image since that makes 4 partitions automatically for you when you use acronis.

I'm having issues as well...but I think I actually killed my drive...I think in my drunken attempts, at some point. I hooked the adapter up wrong(should have done it in my ancient Dell laptop form the get-go) and fried the drive as I can't hear it spin up anymore...

anyhoo...I think you will need to hook the drive up to your secondary IDE as master....then do the unlock deal...

once unlocked, I believe that you can use atapwd to disable the lock...and from then on, you should not have any problems with the lock...

I'm learning as well....and would love to see a consolidated thread on drive unlocking, images, and increasing storage....The original threads are so scattered across a large timeframe...that's it's kinda hard to understand....I may try to consolidate everything into one post myself...

Well heres the thing. My mobo only has SATA and 1 IDE port for cdroms. I don't have a secondary IDE as I only have 1.
